My wife currently teaches there. It's a real shame - Bob is such a great man in that community. He deserves to go out on his terms. The parochial education economic model appears to be no longer viable (see: St. Pat's becoming The Patrick School, etc.), but he's somehow managed to keep that school alive by sheer will for years now.

He's a Hall of Famer for basketball reasons, but he should also be a HOFer for Jersey City, because he's done so much for that community. All things must come to an end - you just root for guys like that to get to choose their own.

Bob Hurley has been a driving force not just at St A's but throughout the state for as long as I can remember. He's the reason why I root for the Hurley sons to succeed in their college coaching careers.

It's a shame because the parochial school system has made a big difference in NJ. The new order seems to be chewing up and spitting out urban Catholic schools. I'm unconvinced that the new order is right.
