Colgate beat Cornell, 72-61.

Colgate was up by 7 at the half. Cornell got it as close as 4 a few minutes into the 2nd half, but the Red Raiders stopped Cornell and extended the lead to as many as 19 points.

Matt Morgan led all scores with 23. Jack Gordon had 11 points and Wil Bathurst had 10. Four Colgate players were in double digits (Burns 14, Swopshire 12, FErguson 12, and O'Brien 11).

Cornell shot 36% for the game and 19% from three (5-27). On the positive side, they are continuing their strong FT shooting (10-12).

Colgate only shot 39% overall, but they shot 44% from three and made 11. The victory would have been larger had Colgate been better at its FT shooting (13-22).

Boeheim went scoreless (0-5, including 0-3 from three) in 10 minutes of play and Josh Warren was limited to less than 10 minutes due to foul trouble.

Gettings, who played 25 minutes, hopefully will be in shape to rejoin the starting lineup soon.

While Colgate is a better team, it would have been great for Cornell to build upon the Binghamton win with a stronger effort. Maybe they will give a better effort on Sunday against UMass-Lowell (tied for 6th with Binghamton in AE preseason poll). Last year, the Riverhawks beat Cornell 98-96 in OT in Ithaca.

Can't win with that shooting. I thought the guys had good looks and moved the ball well on offense, but you have to finish.
