That is what I have been talking about. Go Students!!!
(I almost want to say, Get Tropical! Who can name this reference? I'll order a beer at the pre-Monmouth Game gathering for the first person who responds correctly. Old Bison will pay for it. )

Hopefully the coaches and players will make a much greater effort to recognize and thank the fans. That hasn't happened much since PF left - and I think it is a big deal in encouraging fan support.
There was a half-hearted effort made around 2011, after some criticism, when the team started huddling at half court and then recognized the fans. But it was too staged and too late, coming after most fans are heading to the exits. Need much more spontaneity. Clap for the fans before they even do the handshake line. Etc. They need to watch the men's soccer team to learn how to do it. Or talk to Kevin Bettencourt. I know a number of fans get frustrated, especially after traveling 100+ miles to support the team at away games, only to have the team and coaches walk to the locker room after the game with no acknowledgement of the fans whatsoever.

I agree more effort can be made on the part of the team...but it’s also beyond my general thought process that the students have to be begged to attend a campus sporting event, especially when that team is perennially a top team in the league.

It would certainly be nice to see more student support no matter what the circumstances. But it says something when men's soccer generally has a much better connection with the students than does regular season basketball.

Speaking of the Sojka gameday environment, what's the latest in the pep band soap opera? Last year ended in disarray and using high schoolers as substitutes.

Not for nuthin’ but if the Sojka Pschos have to be energized by a third party, can they truly be “Psychos?â€

Psychosis can be induced externally.

When I worked in the Athletic Department I always said that they should reach out to the frats and soroities. They should offer that to fulfill some community service time. The frats and sororities have major social control over the campus. If a lot of them are going to the games, more will come.

CRD, I could not agree more. My brothers and I used to come to games in groups of 15-20. It was always fun!

The days of the Sojka Psycho, the golden twirling baton girl, and even the wigmeister, are over. Start from scratch beginning with the free t-shirts for attendees. Let the new student fans determine their identity. The old president Brian Mitchell was a stodgy businessman like leader and out of his style came the Psychos. Now President Bravman who was purported to be an in touch pal of the students is the leader of an anemic apathetic group of basketball fans. We all know-"we did it, but lets get some spirit going here. How about Bravman leading the cheerleaders and bison girls in a rousing rendition of YMCA at halftime of the first home game? That would get the students out there but more importantly usher in a new wave of school spirit.

Agree...begged and bought to attend a fun sporting event when they couldn’t care less? Not exactly a hostile environment for visiting teams. Can’t duplicate the past Psychos who were true fans those years. To me, there has to be some emotional investment and some actual sincere interest for it to mean anything. But I will say at least bodies there could be a start.

Bucknell is holding a "Greek Life Challenge" for the Vermont game:
"Come support the Bison Men's Basketball team as they take on Vermont while also representing your chapter! All Greek organizations on campus will have the opportunity to win a $500 value prize from Primos Subs, which they can either keep for themselves or donate to their charity of choice. There are three different components to winning: House attendance by percentage, total number of social media hits, and loudest/craziest/most creative at the game. The winning organization will be announced in the second half of the game."

Looked online today and not many seats available. I’m excited as this game should have the feel of march.

I have to be honest. That would have motivated my brothers to show up for a game! Free food is always a good thing.

God it’s about time. I’ve been saying they should be doing this for years. You motivate the frats and sororities to come and others will follow. Eventually you create a fun/crazy atmosphere again and you continue to have rowdy crowds. Rowdy crowds means more winning at home, which means a better atmosphere to recruit. I really don’t know why this wasn’t realized a while ago. Super frustrating, I worked in the Athletic Department and said these things and it never stuck.
