With 4 minutes to go Iin the first half we are up 41-8 and it isn’t even that close. We have emailed the bench. This game is a real waste of time for us. SL is playing their hearts out but they aren’t even a decent high school team.

Meant we have emptied the bench. Spell check again.

49-9 at the half. Not a real test. Not even close. Not sure how a game like this helps us get ready.

Waste of time, we should play only our players who get the least/no minutes. This way they can all post substantial career highs. I agree, don't see how it helps us to play a team like this going into ivy play. I don't see how it helps SL either.

That's all true. We went 49-9 in the first half with the ordinary rotation, and then 38-33 the rest of the way playing everyone else. But it did give Castlin some time to get in gear, and it was useful for Bolster and Brumant to have college experience in which they were neither completely dominant nor completely outclassed.
Of course, none of this is very predictive of how much we have improved in preparation for next weekend, where if we are to be in the mix, it would be mighty helpful to steal one.

But after a 1 for 8 performance while leading the team in minutes against this level of competition what can we say about Hickman? Was this his final chance to show something? As rusty as Castlin might be, he clearly should be getting the start.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Engles played Hickman with his lowest-level reserves. To be charitable, perhaps he saw this as an opportunity to get Hickman back on track. But since Hickman hardly looked out of out place playing with other bench-warmers, maybe Engles will finally bench Hickman in place of Castlin.

Best part of the afternoon is that Bibbs, Castlin, Hanson, and Meisner all appeared to be healthy. Engles did a nice job of giving plenty of playing time to Barba, Bolster and Brumant. While Sarah Lawrence is awful, the three B's all showed some talent and Brumant, in particular, seems to have the athletic ability to help the Lions up front.

I'm old enough to remember when Sarah Lawrence was a women's school. It's weird to see their name in this context.

When I was a student, there was a class with some SL students held at Columbia.

Kyle Castlin just missed being selected as Ivy League Rookie of the Year his freshman season. Since then he has had some bad luck including the injury last year and the one in the season opener against Villanova. As was evident today, he is a very talented all-around basketball player with smarts, and I am sure we will all be pulling for him to have an outstanding Ivy League campaign.
