Does anyone know the payment amount in '17 the NCAA pays a school if they advance from Ro64 to Ro32?

This article is a couple years out of date, but it gives the basics. A conference three years ago picked up an estimated $1.67 Million for a win in the Round of 64 (and also other rounds). It is paid out over a six-year period.
Note that most leagues have a revenue-sharing feature when it comes to this money. In the PL, the money for getting to the Dance is split 50/50 between the winning school and the league. The additional money for a win is divided into 12 shares, with the winner getting 2 shares, the PL 1 share, and the other 9 PL schools 1 share each.

Why is it paid out over 6 years? IMO, the NCAA makes so much money from March Madness that they should just pay their bills.

It's not really a fixed amount that is paid out over six years. To be more precise, when a team wins a game it earns a certain share of the next six years worth of money. In theory, they could give them 6x as much, and base it just on the current year. But that would be less money, since the money keeps going up at a rapid rate. Getting part of the higher future years is actually better.

137 - thank you. Very interesting on the split and not great for the school that is competitive enough to advance to Ro32
