"Sophomore Avi Toomer has missed the last 16 games with a leg injury, but he is expected to play some minutes off the bench at Loyola."

The teams that played on Monday nights last year - thus playing with two days less rest than their opponent - ended up with an 0-10 record in the games played two nights later.

And one of those losses was Bucknell at Loyola.

Andre Walker had 43 points on Sunday which I believe was only 3 points off the most ever in a patriot league conference game. Walker is regarded as one of the best players in the league but I don't recall him ever doing that great against bucknell so I looked up how he's done against bucknell in his career.

Freshman year:
26 minutes, 7-12 FG, 0-3 3FG, 17 points
23 minutes, 2-9 FG, 0-2 3FG, 4 points

Sophomore year:
37 minutes, 2-9 FG, 1-3 3FG, 6 points
28 minutes, 4-10 FG, 2-4 3FG, 10 points

Junior year:
28 minutes, 2-13 FG, 2-8 3FG, 6 points
37 minutes, 7-14 FG, 4-6 3FG, 18 points

Average:
29.8 minutes, 35.8%FG, 34.6%3FG, 10.2 points

Career averages:
31 minutes, 35.9%FG, 35.3%3FG, 13.5 points

So he's had a couple good games and a few bad games but he pretty much shoots his averages against the Bison.

As far as the performance of teams following up a Monday network game with a Wednesday loss, i’d say this, in this case Loyola has only one more day of rest than us, as opposed to the usual 2 more days. Also, who better than the Bison to end this streak?

Hope you're right - and if anyone can end the streak, it should be the Bison. One thing that makes it harder is that Loyola has been home for both their Sunday game (which was an afternoon game) and for tonight's game. Otoh, the Bison had a 7+ hour round-trip bus ride to Colgate, followed by another bus ride to Loyola.

Not only is the travel and lack of off-days an issue, but I think the Monday-Wednesday double, when both games are on the road, may create some academic issues as well - having to make up work for two consecutive missed classes in the same subjects.

Another very sloppy start. I realize they may not completely have there legs but no energy and way to many turnovers !

I get 137’s point about turnovers decreasing in the second halves and that overall they aren’t ranked that poorly, but they’re giving up extra possessions and with both teams shooting roughly the same %, those lost possessions and extra possessions for Loyola have played a big factor.

No idea why we didn’t give reach in fouls on three TO run outs. Don’t have any thinking caps on. Just AWFUL turnovers. 50/50 balls are 90/10. Hate sloppiness and lack of aggression. They go one back on BU with a road contest coming they are gonna regret it.

In spite of the turnovers and some spotty shooting by Thomas and KMack, a great win on the road!

Obviously this is a big win considering the Monday-Wednesday game situation. One thing I wonder with this setup...why does the team that plays Monday-Wednesday ever have two road games. Frankly, that scheduling in unfair and inexcusable. Don’t think to many teams could get both those wins.

Now even though this was a good wins our first halves have consistently been a problem. Far too many turnovers and carelessness. What was up with Sotos today...he had some really bad turnovers. Even though Foulland and Thomas get the credit for being the best players because of their scoring and rebounding, it’s clear this team goes through Kimbal and Brown. With Avi coming back and splitting time with Moore I’m more comfortable with where we are. But there is still a lot more room to improve.

There is a simple answer. The PL does a really bad job scheduling. Not just basketball, but all sports. Almost no thought goes into it. Not sure if it is incompetence or just laziness. They seem to have no clue about giving teams equal rest or a fair travel schedule.

Not only is the schedule planned poorly, but it is done with no coordination with CBS Sports or Stadium. They need to find out what games TV wants and on what dates before coming up with a final schedule. That is not done.

We knew this would be one of the tougher games coming two days after a trip to Colgate. Walker tried to win the game single handedly, which rarely works out well. Amazing Thomas can score that many points while shooting so poorly. Some clutch play by Brown down the stretch (except for the ill advised jump pass). Good win! Let's hope for an easier time at home vs. HC.

A chippy basketball game by both sides won by Bucknell. The Bison played well overall but had stretches of careless play and turnovers also. They are going to have to be on their game during the tournament or they could be upset as more than one team in the league has played head to head with them for a good part of the game. The seniors are having fun playing ball and the new guys are following suit and playing with attitude but this is lending itself to careless play. This team is really good but could be so much better with just a little focus. Avi is back and Kimbal too, its not to late to make some noise in the big dance but a lot has to be done first. I hope they can move up to the next level.

To me, it seemed like the Bison continue to be sloppy with the ball. Lots of poor passes that are getting tipped or stolen. With such a senior dominated team, I was hoping that this would improve over time.

Bruce did excellent job defending a true guard in Walker. Clearly his commitment and scale was bothersome and he managed to keep Walker in front of him which is where he failed in earlier scenarios. Walker hit tough shots when they went and was consistently contested by BM and Avi

This is a different team with KMac and Avi back in my mind. Shame we weren't healthy in OOC.

If Bison take next three...PL regular season is history barring a swine flu outbreak

Seems like they have been throwing a lot of balls away via alley oops where the intended receiver did not get the message.
