On the Ivy site today

https://ivyleague.com/news/2019/2/26/genera l-ivy-m...

In addition to my opposition to the ILT in general until there is a realistic chance that the Ivy League can get a second bid, to put this tournament into the HS gyms that constitute most of the IL arenas, this will continue to disenfranchise fans from attending. I know that we have discussed this before but with the belief that the location of the ILT will be on a year to year basis. The answer is that is true and will be in the single restroom Harvard gym next year.

If we are going to be like all the other conferences why not give out athletic scholarships? We get the worst of both worlds, a rinky-dink tournament and low-grade hoops. The hypocrisy is sickening.

And let me see if I have this straight. We do not have a football postseason because money is not important but academics are. But we do have a basketball tournament because money is important and academics are not.

You guys are making stuff up again. Stay on message. read the pressers. The reasons for the ILT and the decisions on locations are well documented. None of them are for reasons of fan attendance, fairness, size of the gym, etc.

We may disagree with the decisions, but the rationale that is leading to these decisions is very consistent.

You're wrong--attendance, particularly of the student bodies and alumni, was the No 1 reason given to have a tournament together with the women.

I think you are combining issues. Attendance of HOW many alumni and students? Where did anyone indicate that? Obviously losing 4,000 seats from last year to this year was not a priority so why would it surprise anyone that losing another 1,000 next year matters?

1.) . . . and they're failing at those too.
2.) Even if you don't think they're failing at their priorities, it is quite arguable that the damage they're doing in the other areas will more than offset any gains that may arise in the areas they care about.
3.) It is quite legitimate to complain when many of the most loyal fans of the League are being treated cavalierly by its leadership. Personally, if Penn makes the cut, I'll be attending in '21 and possibly '25, but no others.
4.) I would not be surprised if this is a rather ham-handed attempt to answer the fairness question, whether they want to admit it or not.
5.) They'd better hope that Dartmouth and Cornell get a lot better by the time their turns come, because it's going to be really humiliating if they miss the cut and no one shows up as a result.

I'll conclude with another big "I told you so" to those who thought the League was going to handle this abomination competently.

As noted, the most recent pre-abomination single game playoffs were well attended by H-P at Yale and H-Y at the Palestra - student breaks notwithstanding.

Those are far from Hanover and Ithaca.
