I imagine a lot of you will be spending Thanksgiving in California, so who is going? Had they been guaranteed a game against Arizona, my long-time Zona fan friend and I would have gone, but it's tough to commit without being certain. We've been waiting 25 years for them to meet, but it's going to take an excellent performance against UCF to do it. UCF has some close wins under their belt, so maybe they're due for a close loss. I imagine we'll be 5-6 point underdogs or so, but that's just a guess. It's going to be strange seeing them play on Thanksgiving night and even stranger seeing an 11:30 pm Friday game if they're able to win on Thursday. Should be an interesting trip. Good luck and safe travels to those going.

Penn should be a slim favorite over UCF. It should also play it conservative with food choices...

Really? The ESPN matchup tool had them at only 43% to win...I know I shouldn't put faith in that, but I figured it must be based in some fact.

Vegas generally follows KenPom this early in the season (before they’re more comfortable with their own “fair†odds they’d rather mirror what the public sees there so the money is less likely to come in unbalanced), so my guess is that Penn will open -1 or -1.5.
BPI is not very good. My sense is that it tried to get too cute for what it’s controlling for and lost power relative to broad generalizable models (KenPom, Bart, etc).

Is there any medical issue relating to food that we should know of?

Have a good time--you should be able to get out of here. I think the storms really are for the middle of the country

I won’t be able to go to first game on Thanksgiving as I’m having my wife’s family over for Thanksgiving dinner (I didn’t even try for that one, haha).
BUT, I plan to attend the games on Fri and Sun if at all possible, and prob going solo so would be great to meet up with any of you folks going. Feel free to PM me and I’ll share my cell # to coordinate day of.

That caught my attention, too. This is the only thing that came to mind, although it's in the other part of the state:

Ha! Sorry - not sure why I should have expected non-Harvard folks to remember this, but it had some food poisoning issues when the Ivy was last in the Wooden in 2017.

Ahh, thanks for the reminder of my 'weekend with salmonella'
It was 30 years ago, but somehow still a vivid recollection.

Anyone manage to find a UCF message board? I’m always curious to see what the other side is saying haha.

I found several, but all they are talking about is football. I'll see if anything else is available to gather whether a UCF basketball fan actually exists

No, it's cable company sponsored---initially Bright House, which was taken over by Spectrum. You're thinking of Florida Atlantic--GAO Group Stadium
