We won’t have to stop getting season tickets. I love this hire, although I hope there isn’t unrealistic pressure on John to turn this around in one or even two years. I wish John and staff all the best! Welcome home!

It will take time. We can count on John getting the most out of the talent that is there now. Hopefully, there will be some administration flexibility in admitting transfers that could speed up the process.
Do I see a match-up zone in our future?
The other thing we can count on is that John will be engaging the fans. Worth the price of a ticket.

Yes, people have to remember that ND left this program in a deep hole that cannot be escaped from quickly. It's actually amazing how far he dragged down the program in the past four years.

Yes, success and winning record won’t happen overnight. But we are now in good hands with Griff!!
Bison Basketball history: First few years after taking over program:
Charlie Woollum (after Jimmy V) 13-13, 10-15, 13-15 then 18-9, 20-7. Overall 59% winning pct.
Pat Flannery 13-14, 17-11, 18-11. Overall 57% winning pct.
Dave Paulsen 7-23, 14-17, 25-9 (1st of 5 straight winning seasons)
Overall 59% winning pct. Much higher in PL.
Very important key for John Griffin is hiring ace recruiter and excellent staff. Paulsen had Dane Fischer and Aaron Kelly pulling in top classes of talent. Takes an aggressive, hungry staff to bring in better talent and perhaps that includes a transfer or two.
Who will JG bring in as assistants?

One thing fans need to remember is that all of the previous coaches inherited programs that were in significantly better shape. Griff is looking at a major rebuild, especially if he can't convince Screen to stay.

What do we think the chances are a fellow Bucknell alum joins his staff? And as a young first time HC, will he look for at least one or two very experienced staff members?

OUTSTANDING NEWS...made all the more exhilarating by those late rumors that Halcovage was a done deal.
Just a few moments after I read the Halcovage posts, the Truax email landed. The tight churn of emotions felt something like when Wayne Simien's shot looked good but then hit the front iron.
Let's go, Griff!

I dreaded a scenario where we didn't hire Griffin and he ended up at a Patriot League rival.

Welcome home, John! I'm looking forward to seeing a head coach with passion on the sidelines. A matchup zone would be a welcome addition. I wonder . . .

Congratulations to Jermaine Truax for conducting a thorough, professional search. No search committee and off-campus interviews assured there were no internal leaks, and at the end of the day, I believe he hired the best person for the Bucknell basketball program. There were several strong candidates, at least a few of whom could have been successful. However, given the current state of the program, I think he realized one stood out above the others to reenergize a deeply-caring fanbase. For an ahletic director who was not around when the program was at its peak, that's not as easy of a decision as it might seem. College athletics is littered with AD's who hire "their guy" to build "their legacy." I am so impressed that didn't feel the need to do that.

BRW, following up on your last post, a couple of us were wondering if Paulsen might end up at a PL rival.
