By my count we need ten teams seeded below us if we make the tournament to grab a 14 seed. The first of those is about to be handed out the Big South final between VMI(260) and UNC Ashville(110). We have a rooting interest in Belmon(60) v FGCU(230) in the ASun as Belmont would out seed us. Also, the OVC final has Murray St, who will be in the tourney vs. Tennessee St(120) who would be behind us.

AtlantaBison, have you been studying 137 posting tactics? That is surprisingly good info. Thanks!

I, on the other hand, am not at all surprised that atlantabison would offer such useful information.

Here's how Lunardi currently has his "S Curve". Right now, the PL winner (I assume Lehigh would be right in the same spot) is the second worst #15 seed, indicating we would need to jump 3 teams to go to a 14. Looks like Valpo (Playing Detroit in the Horizon final) and Akron are two we really need to lose. Davidson and ORU are two other options.

However, considering we will really have our hands full Wednesday night, I will be absolutely thrilled to see the Bison on any line come Sunday.

Good news tonight with Middle Tennessee and Iona losing (52 and 53 in Lunardi's S Curve). In the MAAC, it will be Loyola vs. Fairfield in the final. Fairfield would definitely below Bucknell / Lehigh. Loyola would be right there with BU / LU, although the fact Loyola won at Sojka may give them an edge...So let's go Fairfield! In the Sun Belt, Middle Tennessee State just got shocked by the 9 seed (Arkansas State). I don't think any remaining teams would be above BU or LU, so that is one off the list.

While this is good for the Patriot League, I always find it a shame when teams as good as MTSU and Iona miss out on the tourney due to one bad game!

I forgot to mention it when it happened - but another very good outcome was Wagner losing to Robert Morris on Saturday. Had Wagner won the NEC tournament, they would have had a better RPI than the Bison, plus a better record and a win over Pitt (not a good Pitt team but still a "name"). While it would not have been a sure thing, there's a reasonable chance they might have ended up ahead of BU.

Another game to enjoy with a rooting interest. The Southern Conference final has Davidson who would out seed us playing Western Carolina who we would be seeded ahead of us. Go Catamounts!!

Oral Roberts (favorite in the Summit) just went down, but I am very doubtful we'd be ahead of SDSU, who is now the favorite. They are in the 50s in RPI. Loyola won the MAAC, so they are likely slightly ahead of us.

Thanks to Detroit's win last night, both ESPN and CBS now show the Bison on the 14 line.

Now if we could only draw Michigan... then we'd have a game we could potentially win. But first things first!

I don't know, he also has Loyola as a 15. I think he has not looked close enough. I would not seed us ahead of a team we lost to as home and has a similar record. By my count we are only sure of 7 at this point.
Western Kentucky
Detroit
UNC Ashville
SWAC Winner regardless
MEAC Winner regardless
AEC Winner regardless
Southland Winner regardless

We could add #8 for sure tonight if Robert Morris beats Long Island (who is likely a similar seed to us).

BTW, shortly before our debacle with LaSalle, RMU beat the Explorers rather handily, and in Philly no less. An RMU win is by no means out of the question.

Also might want to pull for Montana as they are a team with a similar profile to ours and Weber would probably be seeded ahead of us. There is your pro BU pick in the Big Sky.

My mother and sister will be at that Montana game pulling for the host Grizzlies. I'm glad our interests are aligned.

Now a moot point. Part of me wants to see Lehigh show how good these teams are with a big show in the show. Part of me likes the fact we are the only PL team to have won one there. I imagine that Lehigh will be seeded about the same place BU would have been had we made it.

How is the NIT field decided? How does the bracket for that tournament work?

I want to see Lehigh shock somebody. A win for them is a win for the PL as a whole.

What a game! I am impressed by the class act of the Bison fans on this board. Bison played tough throughout!

I thought LU was tough throughout, start to finish. Bison could not break through, and they had repeated opportunities right up til the end. BU could not get the job done, LU wanted it more.
