Need to play with defensive intensity to force turnovers. Lions are desperate.

Yes, Princeton looks like a much better team when they get lots of deflections, blocks, and steals. If Smith penetrates, can they collapse in such a way to get strips on his dribble, blocks on his shot, and hands on his kick-out passes, and do so without fouling too much or giving up too much weak-side rebounding? And can either Stephens or Cannady stop his penetration one-on-one?

Can't believe how out of sync the offense is tonight. We've missed a chance to blow Columbia out of the game. Both teams missing badly from outside (1-16 combined). Is there cellophane over the hoops?

Defense remains strong when shots do not fall. Where is the Mitch hater.

Wow, that was fun. Great defensive effort on every single possession, with only a few mental mistakes that were greatly outweighed by above-average plays.
Cannady explodes again offensively, Miller looking very good on both ends (and hitting FTs), Cook seeming to grab rebounds at will, Stephens dominating when necessary, Bell outplaying any Columbia player in his vicinity, Weisz with lots of sharp passes (although too many unrewarded in the first half and slightly demerited by some careless ones in the second half), the bench up and cheering for every good play.
The only grain of sand in my shoe was some unfavorable officiating in the first half, where Tigers got mugged without receiving the call and where Lion dribblers blatantly pushed off with their off hands without getting called. (By the second half the calls seemed more even, plus Princeton just pulled away and made it a moot point.)
I have to say that I love the slower, grinding style we've been seeing from the game at the Palestra on, as much fun as all the transition buckets were early in the season. It seems to work better with the shorter rotation and the man-to-man defense finally looks like what I was visualizing for the last couple of years.

I'd enjoy learning what MH said at halftime.
Several key plays by Miller when we needed them tonight. I hope that he shines against harvard's brassy bigs. harvard keeps rolling along. Blew out the elis after a slow first half. Their freshmen are learning fast as they prepare for their "Mulligan" at the Palestra. MH needs to save a few tricks for them. They will be big favorites next season.

Miller had a great game, validating the Tiger faithful's recent appreciation of his play on this message board. Defense again was the key to this win. Princeton has locked in over the past three road games, giving up only 52, 51 and 45 points to three very good offensive teams. And with Weisz and Cook shooting 1-9 from the arc they still won by 19.
It has been a weird season with Penn's early losing streak and now with Columbia and Yale in a tailspin but with Princeton finding a way to win week after week. A comfortable victory on Friday night should mean they will have the energy for the long trip to Ithaca where Coach Earl will be waiting. The seniors can clinch an Ivy that they desperately want and deserve.
Go Tigers!

Asked Mitch after the game about how 11-0 feels as a coach, compared to when he was a player: http://www.nycbuckets.com/2017/02/princeton-64- col...

Great report, Kevin. The shift to looking more like an old Johnson product has clearly improved the team's chances.
