Wow - what can you say - just a great effort by the Bison last night. Truly a team victory over a good opponent. No doubt we were the better team and deserved the win. I'm proud not only of the team and Coach Davis, but was very proud of the enthusiastic Bison fans - Sojka was really rocking, and it was very evident on the CBS broadcast. Bison fans are clearly the best, loudest, and most loyal fans in the PL.
While I know the team is happy to be dancing in the NCAAs, and probably would like to go to a warm south location during break for their game, I want to be selfish and hope for the following. Many pundits seem to believe the Bison will be at the very worse a 14 seed, and probably be a 13 seed (a 12 seed would be fantastic, but unlikely). If that is the case, I hope they get a 12 or 13 seed in the South Bracket. That game would be played in Buffalo. While not a warm climate location, I think it would be the best possible location for Bison fans. Most of our alumni and students are from the Northeast, and no other 12/13 seed games are even remotely close to this area. I know the chances of this happening are slim, but let's hope for the best. I, for one, would be the first in line for tickets in Buffalo, and I think the potential for a large Bucknell contingent would be best there. I could see a large BU fan base taking buses from Lewisburg. Let's face it - a loud Bison crowd can only help, and I am sure the team would love the support and would feed off it. Oh, to dream!
This team, as well as the women's team, which is also dominating the PL, deserve our support. Let's hope for a great location for that first game, and let's show up in droves to support our team. G O B I S O N ! !

I'm hoping the Bison get sent some distance. A chartered flight to Orlando would be a little more exciting for the team than a bus to Buffalo. That said, I'm thrilled we're in the tourney no
matter where we go.

My prognostication is a win over a strong, talented, UCLA team in Orlando. Our Freshman Toomer and Moore support Nana, Zach, and Brown. Bucknell is a veteran team against these 3 seeds as Butler, Arizona, and Purdue will be this year but the new era Bison will play this tough west coast team. I believe the way to beat a Steve Alford team is to go right to the hoop and make the threes while doing damage control on defense. Keep it fresh. With a little luck there is an upset on the other side of the bracket and Bucknell makes short work of them advancing to the sweet 16. After that its a stretch.

Lunardi currently has the Bison as a 13 seed, playing Purdue in Milwaukee. Palm has them as the second 14 seed, but I think he is mistaken by one or two spots. The Bison clearly have a better resume than FGCU, who Palm has ahead of them, and may have a better resume than Akron. Akron btw is in the semis of the MAC, so,they still have two chances to get knocked out - which would help the Bison. Also Princeton still has two Ivy tournament games. If they lose, the Bison would inch up the ladder ahead of the Ivy champ.

Hoping that my initial wish for location comes true, I'm predicting the Bison will be playing the Florida Gators as a #13 seed in the South Bracket. Don't ask me why - just a feeling.

I live in Jacksonville and I'd drive for that game. Given the attendance at first round games doesn't match up paid tickets, group seating for Bison fans shouldn't be an issue.

Carrying this over from the other thread, because I think it makes it fairly clear where the bison slot in.

Realistically the worst seed BU could end up with is a 14. Here are the RPI's and the Pomeroy rankings for all of the lower seeded teams in the mix, sorted by Lunardi's current projected seed:
16: (RPI/Pomeroy)
Mount St Mary's 149/214
South Dakota State 148/185
NC Central 214/164
New Orleans 178/182
Texas southern 119/203
Jacksonville State 147/157
15:
North Dakota 165/177
Iona 90/118
UC Irvine 134/136
Northern Kentucky 89/144
14:
UC Bakersfield 79/110
FGCU 84/108
Winthrop 69/114
Akron 58/96
13:
BUCKNELL 63/80
E. Tennessee St 57/64
Princeton 53/63
UT Arlington 36/69
12:
Vermont 49/60
I think it is clear the Bison are better than all the 14's except possibly Akron. Also there are at least three undecided tournaments where an upset could help BU:
- MAC: If Akron loses, the next best is Ohio (110/101).
- AE: If Vermont loses, then it is Stony a rook (174/212).
- Ivy: If Princeton loses, the next best is Harvard (129/109).
Remember that the committee is not looking at Pomeroy - but it is a very good reflection of a teams body of work. Also the Bison have a win over a top 50 team and two more over a top 100.

I was mistaken about the America East, Albany is in the final vs. Vermont. They beat #2 seed Stony Brook in the semi. Albany's RPI is 140, which might get them a 15 seed.

Is the second Lehigh at 100? I am looking at RPI forecast which shows Lehigh at 101 which oddly could make a big difference the way the committee sees things.
Also we can be 100% sure Lundardi has it wrong as he currently has us playing Butler in the first round.
