Nice to be in the Top 20 (barely) at #20. Just keep winning and the Bison will move up in the poll.

Surprisingly, the women only drop 2 spots to #10 after two bad losses. Voters are really cutting us some slack. Hopefully, they turn things around tonight.

Hopefully most of the team is healthy tonight, for the first time in a week.

This would be pretty cool, a 68 team mid-major tournament:
http://www.midmajormadness.com/2017/2/24/14728044/...
The two patriot league teams that would make it would be Bucknell as a 5 seed playing LaSalle, and Lehigh a 10 seed playing Valpo. Bucknell could a victim of the 12-5 upset if this years game vs LaSalle is any indication. (Personally I don't really consider A-10 or Mountain West teams as mid-major)

Yes, the A10 and MWC are clearly not mid-majors. For that matter, neither is the MVC. And neither is Gonzaga. All of them spend at least 3x what is spent by the real mid-majors.

Not sure if this was ever posted. The Bison ended up at #16 in what I believe was the final mid-major poll. I don't regard the top two - Gonzaga and Wichita State - as mid-majors. (Wichita State will be gone from this poll next year when they join the AAC, leaving Gonzaga to unanimously win it every year.)

They ranked 9th among the same mid-major pool in the final Pomeroy rankings. I think that is more accurate than the linked mid-major poll.

Bucknell women finished ranked 6th. Quinnipiac, who made the Sweet 16 as a 12 seed was only ranked 4th.

Wow, I hadn't heard about Wichita State leaving the Missouri Valley Conference. That's terrible.

I think that still has to be voted on but it's assumed that Wichita State will get the votes needed.

Yes, the vote is tomorrow. They are expected to easily get the necessary votes.

The MVC has tumbled considerably from its peak from 2005 to 2010. With the departure of Creighton and now Wichita State, it will likely be just a strong mid-major conference going forward. But from 2005 to 2008, it was the 7th best conference in the nation (Pomeroy) four years running - behind only the P6 and sometimes very close to 6th.
Its peak may have been in 2006 - the year the Bison played at Northern Iowa in Bracketbusters. That year they had six teams in Pomeroy's top 51 and got four teams into the NCAA tournament:
25 Bradley
28 Wichita State
30 Northern Iowa
35 Missouri State
48 Southern Illinois
51 Creighton
Those six all won between 20 and 26 games.
Bradley and Missouri State unfortunately have fallen a lot from their strength in this era.

Wichita State was approved unanimously today. They had been in the MVC for 72 years.

137, for me, that was one of the most disappointing losses in my 32 years of watching the Bison play. I cannot believe that you brought it up. I'll have nightmares later on.
