Maine may not be a very good team but a 73-66 win on the road without Guilien Smith still deserves a nod. Taylor Johnson stepped up and went 11-for-13 from the field while scoring 29 points as Dartmouth improved to 3-4.
For the record, 2-8 Maine's only wins came against DIII Husson and St. Joseph's of Maine.
These notes at the end of the Dartmouth web page are interesting:
Johnson has led Dartmouth in scoring in three straight games (only once in first three seasons) and produced at least 20 points in each of the last two for the second and third times of his career
Chris Knight has scored in double figures in each of the last six contests
Brendan Barry has hit at least two 3-pointers in nine straight games dating back to last year.
The Big Green have shot at least 50 percent three times already this year after reaching that mark three times all of last season.
Yes. I am hoping this give the kids some confidence going into road trip. I watched the second half on ESPN3 and noticed a few things. A nice mix of effort by seniors Johnson and Wright and freshman plus Barry. 3 pointers helped alot. And the press by Maine gave them fits but after a TO, things got better.. Overall really happy for this win. Going to women's game at noon.
