One game at a time.

Princeton’s most effective weapon at Lavietes was posting Aririzugoh when Lewis was out. Didn’t seem he is so dangerous that you want to double him and open up 3 point shooters. However, Welsh and Djuricic didn’t weren’t able to push him off the block. Chris Egi wasn’t available that weekend. Just wondering...

Spread ranging from Princeton -1 to Harvard -1.

Some key stats from game at Lavietes:

Princeton 34% from field and 28% from 3 (7-25. Cannady 3-15 from deep.

Harvard 44% from field and 29% from 3 (5-17)

15 Princeton turnovers to just 9 for Harvard

Lewis limited to 15 minutes before fouling out. AS HARVARDDADGRAD points out, it will be key to keep Lewis out of foul trouble. Bell, Stephens and Towns also in foul trouble (with Towns also fouling out)

Other key stat: 15 point final margin. First time Harvard opened big lead and held onto working margin throughout.

Hope Seth can repeat last year's Jadwin performance 9-12 (4-6 from 3) for 26 points. Tough loss despite 18-5 turnover edge in favor of Princeton.

Still hoping Bryce can get back in the action.

First, the biggest Harvard basketball news was the Women's win over Penn, likely earning the Crimson a spot in the tournament.

For the men, a very gutsy win at Princeton in OT. Defense won the game. Harvard out of sync from the start. The Crimson didn't make a bucket for the first 5 minutes and fell behind quickly 10-2. Being there, it appeared that Corey and Seth were out of sorts. Corey only played 14 minutes and Seth only scored 9 points, making 3 baskets. Further, Christian Juzang who has been a clutch consistent shooter, was 0-6 on the Princeton rims. Bryce was in street clothes.

So, with Seth, Corey, Christian (and Bryce) making only 4 baskets, with Chris Lewis fouling out early in OT, with Myles Stephens scoring 33 points, Harvard shooting 32% from 3 and having 14 TO's, it's frankly amazing that Harvard won at Jadwin.

Here's why they won:
- DEFENSE! Bassey shut down Cannady (again; 7 pts). Crimson had 5 steals and 5 blocked shots.
- Juzang and Haskett limited down Bell (6pts) and totally shut down Young (0pts in 45 minutes)
- Other than Stephens, Princeton's bigs can't score over Lewis. Much had at least 5 of his 8 points early on vs Welsh. Aririzugoh made only 2 shots, but missed all 4 FT's.
- Harvard outrebounded Princeton 38-24
- Djuricic and Haskett played what was likely a season high in minutes, picking up for Corey and Seth. Djuricic and Haskett outscored Corey, Seth and Christian by themselves 21-16!
- Justin Bassey played amazing defense and took the ball to the defense, scoring 18 points. He did have 6 TO's, but Justin and Rio made things happen out there.
- Harvard made 15 of 17 FT's

This Princeton squad is not what we've come to expect, but the win at Jadwin last night underscored the growing depth and resilience of this Crimson team.

On to the Palestra!

How are there only 5 posts for such a big game? Even the Penn Dartmouth thread was lacking. Is it the tournament? Has it always been this way? At least during the Cornell hey day you could find a good number of Cornell fans. It's depressing.

Likely the Tournament.

Friday's outcome also probably wasn't going to determine much, even for the regular season title.

I know a lot of folks that follow the team very closely that are aware of these boards, but not at all interested in posting here for a variety of reasons. Most of my Harvard convos are off of these boards, sadly.

Checked it out. Much scored 8 points, but not a single one with Lewis on the floor. 4 of Bell's 6 points came on drives past Lewis and then Welsh after switches. Impressive defense by Harvard's guards.

Something had to be wrong with Corey. Came out of game early and wasn’t reinserted for any of the key minutes. He’ll be useful tonight when Penn tries to double Lewis.

Bassey’s turnovers are tough to watch, but his aggressiveness has been making a big difference. Oh, not to mention the 3s and D.

Both Princeton and Penn have gone with smaller defenders vs. Seth. Haven’t been able to have Seth post up against that so far, but still think that should be a priority. Gonna need a big effort from Seth tonight, especially if they try to take Lewis out of it.

No reason to expect Bryce tonight. On the Yale front, it appears Mason had a setback and has been wearing a boot.

Win tonight and it would take a double loss next week to deny team share of real title and top seed in the other tournament.

Tigers lost it at the FT line. Lewis was a beast and you have to wonder what would happen if Towns were just a bit more selfish offensively.
