Are we to assume no more commitments for next fall?

It was confusing watching his highlights, as some of them were for #25 (definitely Augie's number) and #35 (did Augie also wear that number)?

In any case, he looks great. Good skills, physical, athletic, and aggressive. He had good spin moves and good awareness in the post. He seemed like a perfect Donohue forward.

Looking forward to seeing him lighting up the Palestra!

No. It is still somewhat early for the '23 class. Most commits will happen between now and November. Players are out with their HS teams in June, there are 2 live AAU evaluation periods in July (week of July 9 and week of July 16). Most players will know who is most interested after those live periods and will make decisions (on visits if they haven't already been to a school or final choices) after that. A lot of players decide during Sept/Oct. If we get to early November with no activity, that would be a bad sign.

Gerhart played/plays on the Under Armour circuit against high level teams. He has good footwork around the rim, can finish with either hand and has shot the ball from 3 at better than 40% over his HS/AAU career. He is physical in the paint and a solid offensive rebounder (which is one of the traits that most often translates to college). This is a very strong big man recruit for Penn.

I think he was asking about the '22 class. Could be wrong.

Could be. I think we are probably done there. It would be rare to get someone this late, but not unprecedented.

One of my reasons for asking this question is that #35 looked rangy, lanky, and quick. He made some good passes and showed a nice three. #25 looked strong and physical, and made some very aggressive finishes. I'd very happily take either recruit #35 or #25, but if Gerhart is both, I am VERY excited about his future as a Quaker.

Two positives from the two 2023 commitments, IMO:

1. Both are locals and to the extent getting recruits from within 100 miles of Philly was one of Steve's original goals, this is a success.
2. Committing both recruits before September so they're not scrambling in-season if things don't work out is a nice departure.

Beyond that, I like that these are two guys who wanted to be at Penn early and that both really look like Donahue players. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they are 2023 and won’t have long with Dingle. They’ll have a bit more time with Slajchert and Smith. They are a few recruits away from finally building a future core with continuity.

VC doesn’t show us connected with too many others. TJ Power looks amazing, but I’m guessing he’s going high major?

Ok, got sucked into watching some video of other players. Asa Thomas and Tre Norman would be great. Would be very happy for Simmons, Robinson and Luberoff too. Simmons appears to have shooting and length that would help a lot.

To depress you a little more — they may not have more time with Slajchert. He’ll be a junior next year (like Dingle). I suspect Clark will only have 3 years at Penn and will go elsewhere as a grad transfer. Smith should have 3 more years at Penn, so 2 years with the 2023 recruits.

You guys are something else. We have 2 years with probably the best talent in the league and you're bitching about not having them for 3 years. You're like the old men at the OTB bitching about the Mets.

Ah yes, 10.5 game lead at the beginning of the month.

By the end of June 13th, down to 5.
