Big Green Alert (the Dartmouth football blog) reports that Dame Adelekun not only has entered the transfer portal, but also has already received several P5 offers (Big 10 and SEC).
We saw something similar in football when Shane Cokes entered the portal and immediately reported several BCS offers. He eventually chose Colorado.
Probably wishful thinking to hope that Adelekun opts to remain in Hanover for a COVID year. We certainly appreciate his time in Hanover, and wish him well in his next endeavors!

He's listed as a senior. The Ivies only extended eligibility for 1 year after the missed season (and made the decision so late that few took advantage of it). I do not believe he has an additional year of eligibility at Dartmouth.

The Ivys, in their infinite wisdom, have made it essentially impossible to do a fifth year and remain at the same school.
If this is indeed Adelekun's senior year (the year in which he graduates) at Dartmouth, it would be impossible for him to stay and play for the COVID year of eligibility he still has. The Ivys came out with some goofy exception to this in '21 for the seniors affected by covid in '20 but as far as I know nobody took them up on it because a) the ruling came out really late, by which time most students had decided what they were going to do next and b)it essentially meant the athlete would have to re-apply to one of its university's graduate schools (which also involves applying for financial aid from that graduate program).
Needless to say, the Ivys administrators screwed over all the Ivy athletes during COVID.

Another Covid tragedy. That guy is good. He helped the Big Green achieve respectability. This league is getting better from top to bottom, or at least from top to 7.

I'll defer to you guys on this, as you follow basketball a lot more closely than I do.
But the Ivy has been permitting football players to take COVID seasons for two seasons, and next year should be season #3 of COVID seniors...

I think you are mistaken---the waiver was given only to seniors for one year. No one who hasn't already been graduated is eligible for additional eligibility. And no one who graduates in 4 years is eligible for grad-student eligibility.

Penn will return their best player, Jordan Dingle, next year because, while he entered college in the same class as Adelekun, he did not enroll in 2020-21 and saved his year of eligibility when he dropped back from class of '23 to '24.
The Princeton and Columbia women's programs excelled this year in no small part because a good number of their players also withdrew from school in '20-21 and saved their year of eligibility.

A couple took them up on it. Brown’s Choh. I believe both Rai and Barry played as grad students for Dartmouth as well.

I never really understood how Barry's grad year worked since he transferred to Temple and grauated from there. Then transferred back to Dartmouth and somehow got a grad year at an Ivy he didn't graduate from.
I know he had an extra year of eligibility but how did he get to take it at a school that doesn't allow 5th year players of any kind - except in the post-covid year but ONLY if you stayed at the same school you'd graduated from (which he didn't).

Are you sure he doesn’t have a Dartmouth degree?

Bingo. I believe he graduated from Dartmouth, did a grad year at Temple, and then returned to Dartmouth as a grad student. Still a bit of a weird loophole, since the whole idea seemed to be to allow guys who lost their senior year of Ivy basketball to play another year.

Best of luck to Adelekun who certainly sold me on his being an excellent basketball player.

wow, you're right. Then that makes even less sense since he was playing at Temple while the Ivy League was idle and then came back and got another year with Dartmouth. Respect to him for making that happen.

Probably got advice from Spencer Gloger.

Gloger is the fun Ivy basketball memory that never ends. I think people have mostly forgotten the Penn "Gloger"

In case you missed it while you were scouring the Internet for potential new WBB head coaches, Dame will follow Chris Knight's path to Loyola of Chicago for his final year of eligibility: https://bustingbrackets.com/2023/04/22/atlantic-1 0...
