Congratulations to the WBB team & Coach McLaughlin who earned the last bid to Ivy Madness earlier tonight.
With a visit to Princeton and Brown hosting Yale next Saturday, the Quakers needed to beat Harvard to get that last spot.
The Red & Blue came through with a 69-67 win to clinch the fourth seed.
Rookie of the Year front-runner Mataram Gayle went 1-12, but hit two big FTs towards the end and fellow first-year Ese Ogbevire scored 14, including 8 in the fourth quarter. Stina Almqvist had 17 pts/5 rebounds and Jordan Obi had 15 pts/5 rebounds/7 assists.
In terms of seeding, I thinkā¦
Penn gets #3 seed if
1. Penn (8-6) beats Princeton and Harvard (8-6) losses to Dartmouth. (The Quakers get #1 seed due to better record vs Princeton, 1-1 vs 0-2).
Penn gets #4 seed if
1. Penn (8-6) and Harvard (9-5) both win.
2. Penn (7-7) and Harvard (8-6) both lose.
3. Harvard wins (9-5) and Penn (7-7) loses.
Princeton gets the #1 seed if
1. Princeton (13-1) beats Penn (13-1) and Columbia (12-2) loses to Cornell.
2. Princeton and Columbia end the season tied at 13-1 (the Tigers would get the #1 seed due to a better NET).
Columbia gets the #1 seed if
1. Columbia (13-1) beats Cornell and Penn beats Princeton (12-2).
2. Columbia and Princeton both lose to end the season tied at 12-2 (the Lions get the #1 seed due to a better record against Penn, 2-0 vs 1-1).
