Today is the first day rising juniors can hear from schools and our coaches didn't waste any time. Interest in D'Andre Vilmar 6-2 PG out of Roman Catholic in Philly. Also reported that Penn contacted him this morning as well

Usually pretty hard to tell who our staff likes the most during the recruiting season but reaching out this early could be a pretty good indicator

Two more names:

1. Nick Alikakos 6-7 SF/PF from Episcopal Academy in the Philly area. He heard from ten schools today.

https://twitter.com/1stStateSports/status /61056879...

2. Sam Iorio 6-6 SF from Parkland in Allentown. Iorio has offers from Boston U, Lafayette, and one other school (maybe Penn).

https://twitter.com/jmverlin/status/61057 105340497...

All three names that popped up today are from Southeastern PA. With the ties that Griffin and Ayers have to that area - plus MOBO Joe Meehan - we may see a lot more names from that area as time goes by.

I see that the blurb on Gillespie specifically says that John Griffin is the recruiter. Not a surprise.

Kobe Magee 5-11 CG from San Antonio.

Icarnate Word was another local program reaching out to Kobe Magee today. A long list of top teams: Texas Tech, Rice, Middle Tennessee, Boise State, Tulsa, Hartford, Bucknell, SFA, Sam Houston State and Vanderbilt all made contact today with the Brandeis guard.

https://twitter.com/AlamoCityHoops1

Magee hit about 39% on threes over his first two seasons, while shooting a lot of them. He played SG more than PG since Brandeis had another PG - but he is projected as more of a PG. May have some similarities to John Azzinaro. We will await the scouting report from BRW.

Some recruiting activity today. Might still be looking for a 2016 walk-on, but more probably directed at 2017's:

1. Blair Academy (NJ): "Thanks to Bucknell, U. Denver, Seton Hall and SMU for attending open gym today."

Blair has at least three 2017's who are D1-level players. One of them has dozens of high-level offers. The other two are:

- Matthew Turner 6-3 SG who has offers from Seton Hall, Fairfield, and Quinnipiac.
- Anthony Mack 6-5 wing who has offers from half of the MAAC, several AE schools, Colgate, four CAA's, GMU, and Texas A&M.

2. Loyola Academy (IL): "We appreciate Bucknell AC Ryan Ayers watching Open Gym today and his interest in our guys."

Probably looking at 6-2 CG Ramar Evans.

Rivals shows four players with Bucknell interest. It is not a very reliable source and I wouldn't put must stock in the schools of interest, but might as well list them:

- Jordan Horn 6-3 PG (MN) - offer from South Dakota; interest from LU, Army, and most of the upper midwest programs.
- Dedoch Chan 6-7 PF (MN) - interest from HC, Drake, UNI, etc.
- Donald Duncan 5-11 PG (MD) - interest from Harvard, Loyola, UMBC, Monmouth, Towson, etc.
- Charles O'Bannon Jr 6-5 wing (NV) - OFFER; other offers from about 25 schools, incl Kansas, Arizona, etc. 4 stars.

Also from Scout -for BRW:

- Kobe Magee 6-0 PG (TX) - offers from UTEP, UTSA, St. Francis (PA), LIU

Magee plays for Brandeis HS in San Antonio. BRW would know better than me, but I think they play in the same league as DJ MacLeay's Reagan team.

Actually, Reagan and Brandeis are in different school districts. I think Brandeis is the same district as Johnny Azzinaro's Brennan High School.

While one of the toughest skill sets to recruit, pretty obvious Bison needs some rebounding help. No accident that the two glory eras coincided with having two of the best big men to play at Lewisburg. While I know its early, get concerned when most recruits are 5'11" guards.

Big men often develop later, so the pattern always seems to be that guards are more often on the early radar. At this point in his career, i.e. prior to his junior season of H.S., Muscala had never even started a game. Nor had Foulland. We will probably see some big men added to the list before the HS season is over.

Went to see Nick Alikakos of Episcopal Academy yesterday and will send the BU staff a short report. Our sons (now at Bucknell) went to EA and I ooached Middle School basketball there so very familiar with the program and head coach. Nick is a junior who keeps getting better and is a 6-7 SF or PF prospect. EA defeated Shipley School by about 10 points and Nick had 22 points, at least 10 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.

He plays center for EA but can step out and hit 15-20 footers with no problem. Can handle the ball well for his size and could add some muscle to his frame. First team all-league last year as a soph and made the Philly Inquirer's "top returning player" list from last year. Very good foul shooter and he draws a lot of contact with his moves around the basket.

I will see him again once or twice this year. Penn Asst Coach sat right behind me in the stands.

no real news, but thoughtt i'd bump this to the top as April recruiting period opens.

i do see we will have a two day prospect camp, the a one day team shootout camp in June. glad to see those back as they at least get some prospects on campus.

will be interesting to see how much recruiting news we get this year with full staff in place from the get go. my take is that Coach Davis will continue to have a much more surgical, focused offer list rather than the larger earlier offer sheet we were accustom to with Coach Paulsen.

Or Kahron Ross? Badmus? Shazier? Etc.

Since their is no PG in this year's incoming class, bringing in a PG next year would make sense - although they won't be desperate to land one.

Does bucknell have any chance of getting this kid? verbalcommits.com has him as a four star. Looks like bucknell and Iowa state have interest so far. Well, Hopefully academics is important to him to give bucknell a better chance to get him.

He's likely a long shot, but it's interesting he only has one offer other than from Bucknell. As for the four stars, that is the ESPN ranking, but he has no stars from Rivals or Scout. ESPN is known for some strange four star rankings - so it's very possible that he isn't really a four star player.

In the past, there have been BU insider type posts about the Prospect Camp. This year there has been no news or inside stuff.

Who played in the Prospect Camp and whom are we targeting?

Nate Sestina was a guy who moved up the draft board (so to speak) a couple of years ago when he showed his stuff at the camp.

Anyone have any info on guys we are targeting?

BRW should like this one. A new offer to Greg Bowie II 6-3 SG (TX) from San Antonio's Athlos Leadership Academy. Has offers from San Diego, Buffalo, Duquesne, UTEP, FGCU, LA Tech, UTSA, Texas State, etc. Athlos is a charter school that is not loved by some of the local coaches.

Recruits with BU offers-- Did any of these recruits attend our Prospects Camp last month?
In the past, we have gotten insider info on guys like Nate Sestina who attended the camp at Bucknell. I think Cam Ayers attended the camp before he committed. This year, we have heard nothing about who shined or who surprised.

If we don't have any scoop on the Camp attendees, who are the guys at the top of our list? Sounds like we are really intent on adding some size like 6-9 or taller with the recent offers.

I have no info whatsoever on the camp or who are the top priorities. However, just looking at the returnees in 2017-18 - when the current recruits will be frosh - makes it pretty clear that at least one big man is needed.

2017-18:

Center - Foulland 6-9 (SR)
PF's - Thomas 6-7 (SR) , Sestina 6-8 (JR), Moore 6-8 (SO)
SF/Wings - Jones 6-4 (JR), Robertson 6-5 (SO)
SG's - O'Reilly 6-3 (JR), Toomer 6-3 (SO)
CG - Mackenzie 6-1 (JR)
PG - Brown 5-11 (SR)

Also need to add a PG.

Thanks, 137. My understanding from a source at BU is that Sestina got a redshirt year approved and will be, in effect, a first year player next year. So Big Country will be just a soph when the new recruits are freshmen.

That is good news for Bison followers.

Funny...I've never even heard of it! The website says San Antonio location "opens in fall 2014."

New offer to Matt Beachler 6-4 SG (MI). Has offers from LU, AU, VCU, DePaul, Cornell, Brown, CMU, Kent State, NIU, Detroit, Green Bay, RMU, etc.

Ranked 10th in the Michigan 2017 class by Bankhoops.com: http://bankhoops.com/class-of-2017-michiga ns-top-2...

(Hass, btw, ended up #4 in Michigan in their final ranking for his class, but I'm not sure where he ranked prior to his senior year.)

Article from last fall: http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/article/-10...

Would love to hear an opinion from GreatLakesState.

List of the above. Am missing some players where there was interest but hopefully have all the offers.

- Wilson, Marques 6-4 CG ( OK ) BUCKNELL OFFER 4/21/16 ; Iowa State ; st. Pete Area

1) what does the st. Pete Area reference mean wrt Wilson?

2) Kyle Copeland visited in June 2015, subsequently either reclassified to 2017 or is doing a pg year. if iirc, HC70 reported on their board that his aau contact said we had offered him. no evidence of offer or even interest that i can find in the last year on the net. anyway, i think he probably out to be listed as a player of interest on our list

1. Wilson reference is in error. Was supposed to apply to AJ Ford.

2. HC70's "AAU contact" is widely believed to be fictitious, so any reports from his imaginary friend are apt to be in error. In any event, I'll add him to the 2017 list. It appears he will be doing a PG year at Phillips Exeter. Now has offers from AU, HC, Quinnipiac, and Stetson. Had offers prior to last year from Mt. St. Mary's, High Point, and St. Francis. Those offers may still be in place.

A new 2018 offer:

Richard Njoku 6-7 PF (D.C.) from St. John's College H.S. Also has an offer from Binghamton.

Interestingly, his HS coach is Sean McAloon, who was a Bison assistant for two years under PF. He left Bucknell to coach/teach HS at the same time Don Friday left BU to become head coach at Lycoming. The two of them were replaced by Nathan Davis and Mark Prosser. The other assistant at that time was Bryan Goodman, who is now an assistant at Binghamton, where Njoku got his other offer.

Further, McAloon is a graduate of Randolph-Macon, playing two of his four years alongside Nathan Davis. Davis also coached McAloon for one year when he was a graduate assistant at RMC.

Atkinson also planning to cut his list to 4 or 5 by end of next week. should be a fairly common theme over next few weeks as many players plan for their official visits. seems likely Yale will get one of the visits allthough they already have a highly rated frosh pf coming in and a verbal from another for next year.

Atkinson set four official visits (Yale, Richmond, Dayton, UNCWilminton), and while wording doesn't preclude possibility of a fifth visit, odds not looking good (actually, odds were probably never good for us beating out Yale for this kid)

I find the above post interesting. I do not feel that the 3 or 4 position is a critical need as 137 stated earlier a true center is a need. Also a point guard would appear to be on the list but the better ones appear to be gone.

There is still at least one good PG with an offer:

Jimmy Sotos 6-2 PG ( IL ) BUCKNELL OFFER 7/10/16 ; Offers from Army, LC, Northern Iowa, Penn, Princeton, W&M, Brown, Drake, Northeastern, WMU, Campbell, Winthrop.

No idea if he has interest in Bucknell - but he did pick up offers recently from Northern Iowa and Loyola (IL), which makes it that much harder.

Also one CG, Marques Wilson, is still available. He has a strange offer list, with one from Iowa State but all his others being midmajors (Lehigh, Western Illinois, Brown, etc.). No idea if he could handle the point at this level.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some more offers to PG's over the next five weeks if nothing materializes with the above. I imagine BU has had some contact with others who simply haven't received offers yet.

For some context, he has 21 offers at the moment. At least it's a good sign that BU is on his visit list. As you know, he is only allowed five official visits and this may well be one of the five.

A bit more on Sotos:

"With all the recruiting attention thrown his way, including unofficial visits to Northern Iowa, Drake, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Loyola, Brown, Northeastern and Princeton in the books, there are two official visits next up –– to Princeton and Bucknell."

Getting him to Bucknell for an official visit is obviously a good sign. But his official to Princton will be his second visit there, which is not a good sign.

Yes, it definitely won't stop them. Their roster this year has at least 19 players on it, including six seniors. Ivy rules generally allow six recruited players per season - and I'd expect Princeton to add five or six for 2017-18. At the moment, they have three new recruits in that class.

Definitely seems like it's getting last for a commitment - although it probably seems later than it is because Paulsen's last four classes wrapped up by early September. However there have been a number of October (and November) commitments in the past. Looking back, I think these are the players who committed after Labor Day in past years:

Scholarships:

DJ MacLeay 9/3
Steven Kaspar 9/7
Nana Foulland 9/7
Todd O'Brien 9/12
Bruce Moore 9/16
Ben Brackney 9/23
John Griffin 9/26
Bryson Johnson 10/1
Joe Willman 10/2
GW Boon 10/5
Cory Starkey 10/6
Avid Toomer 10/8
Bryan Cohen 10/11
Zach Evans 10/12
Pat Behan 10/17
Probese Leo 10/20
Darren Mastropaolo 10/23
Jason Vegotsky 10/27 (Per Scout; not sure if this is right)
Stephen Tyree 11/1 (?)
Cam Ayers 11/17
Matt O'Reilly 5/5

Need-based:
Abe Badmus Winter (?)
Rob Thomas Winter
Andrew Morrison Late Winter

Never could find anything as to when McNaughton committed. Also not sure about Linthicum.

One thing I noticed is that 6+ years ago, it seemed routine, at least to me, for BU to still be looking for commitments in October. For example, in my mind I don't think of GW Boon, Joe Willman, or Bryson Johnson as having been late commitments - but they actually didn't come on board until early October. Ditto for Cohen and Behan, who were later in October.

Asadullah committed to Lipscomb. Sounds like a significant factor was Lipscomb offering a major in sports marketing. Had offers from Georgia State, Arkansas-Little Rock, James Madison, Bucknell, Brown and Alcorn State.

Unconfirmed report: Asadullah strongly preferred Lipscomb's "Bisons" pluralization.

A bit of old news RJ Cole to Howard. The offer list continues to get thin... I wonder if Davis would consider holding a scholarship if they can not get the right piece for the team? I did see that Chris Vogt is still uncommitted.

That's an interesting question. Since the scholarship era began in the Fall of 2002, Bucknell has always used all of its scholarships in the Fall (except perhaps for the HS Class of 2004 when only two scholarships - Griffin and Mastro - were given out). I'm sure the staff will land at least two this Fall, but if they can't find a third who they really like, it might make sense to hold one scholarship.

That wouldn't necessarily mean to wait until the following year but possibly only until the spring. There are always players that emerge during their senior HS years, and it might not be the worst thing to have one scholarship available for that group. Further, Bucknell has never brought in a scholarship transfer - ever - and a main reason is that there have almost never been any scholarships available to bring one in. That is in sharp contrast to American and Colgate, whose frequent transfers out have created room to bring transfers in.

Offer to 6-10 center Walker Miller from the New Hampton School in NH. Verbalcommits.com states that he is from Greensboro, but he played for Albany's City Rocks AAU program and another site says he is from the Syracuse area.

Miller has reported offers from Vermont, Columbia, Dartmouth, Army, Navy, Lafayette, and UNC-Greensboro. His brother is the head coach at UNC-Greensboro, but it appears Miller may be shooting for a better academic school than that.

Edit: I see that he played his first two HS seasons for Greensboro Day, so it appears he is a native of NC. Might possibly have moved recently however.

Interesting offer. A quick search reveals that he recently transferred from Bridgton Academy (ME) to NMH and reclassified to 2018. His father is a Canadian who has played and coached in Japan for many years. I believe his mother may be Japanese. Went to the Canadian Academy in Kobe prior to coming to the States for the 2015-16 academic year. Might have a lot of upside, given his relative inexperience with American basketball.

Bison coach was present at the open gym of Archbishop Wood, north of Philly, presumably to look at one or or more JUNIORS. One possibility is 6-10 center Seth Pinkney, who has offers from St. Joes, UMass, and Coppin State. Another is 6-3 SG Tyree Pickron, who has offers from Drexel, Stony Brook, and Delaware State. A third is 6-6 forward Karrington Wallace, who holds an offer from NJIT. And finally, there is 6-3 SG Andrew Funk, who already has an offer from Lafayette.

Wood also has a senior PG with offers from Maine and Albany, but with the Sotos commitment, I doubt that is the Bison target. Needless to say, Wood should be very good the next two years.

Cummings is from Pittsburgh. Big handful of offers: Temple, Bowling Green, Furman, Mt. St. Mary's, NJIT, St. Francis, Quinnipiac, RMU, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown.

Cummings commits to Bowling Green. Bucknell was reportedly one of his finalists - but once Sotos committed, his offer presumably was off the table.

Yes, I see that they played in at least one July AAU tournament together .

Miller's hometown of Greensboro is also near the hometowns of Ben Robertson (High Point) and Meeks (Burlington).

Staff trying to find that elusive center. A Bison coach was at a HS game in Arkansas looking at 6-8 PF/C Porter Anderson. Judging by his highlight video, he can block shots and rebound - but looks like he has limited offensive skills.

https://twitter.com/ARBballRankings/statu s/8088564...

Also a Bison coach was at powerhouse Mater Dei in California - one of the top teams in the country - although it is hard to tell who was the target. Mater Dei has at least four D1-level juniors/seniors who are available, plus a very good PF already signed by LaSalle:

- Justice Sueing, 6-7 senior forward averaging 16.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, and 2.3 spg. Only reported offer is from Montana. Seems like he should have more - not sure why. He has played in Arizona, Hawaii, and California.
- Michael Wang, 6-10 junior center averaging 10.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg. offers from Texas A&M, American, San Jose, and Campbell.
- Spencer Freedman, 6-1 junior PG averaging 17.3 ppg and 6.1 apg. Offers from Harvard, USC, Rice, Portland, and several other west coast schools.
- Harrison Butler, 6-6 junior forward averaging just under 9 ppg, 6 rpg, and 4 apg.

There were only three total scholarships available at the start of the year, replacing Oberfeld, Azzinaro, and MacLeay. Two have been used on November signings (Sotos and Meeks), meaning one is still available. With the loss of Ben and DJ, and with Nana being a junior, it seems fairly certain the third will go to a big man.

BU has never brought in a transfer scholarship player - although one big reason is that there has almost never been a scholarship available at transfer time - but I am sure they would consider a center who opted to transfer out of his current program in the next few weeks. In that case, the transfer would become eligible to play on 12/15/17. However if that doesn't happen - and it's unlikely - then I am sure they will get a commitment from a HS center in the next few months. In theory, they could hold the scholarship and look for an April transfer, but that has two negatives: (1) the player wouldn't be eligible until 2018-19, leaving them with no depth next year; and (2) it is a big risk because they might not find a transfer who fits.

One thing I forgot to mention is an explanation of how BU could bring in an immediate transfer when they already have 13 (the max) on scholarship. By declaring that Oberfeld is no longer able to play, his scholarship could be re-categorized as a non-athletic one under NCAA rules, freeing up another one for a new player. I doubt that will happen - but it is possible.

Mike was exactly 6-9 205 lbs entering his senior year, identical to where Bruninga is now.

jkrun80, thanks for the info. With how well Muscala is doing in the NBA and the great performance that Foulland had against the whole PL and WVU, I think that any Big who is looking to improve over 4 years should seriously consider Bucknell. I would love to see a long, lean, and athletic shot-blocker/rebounding machine. The offensive post game will come around over time.

I would like to see an inside presence but for me, I'd like to see a strong inside banger, not necessarily "long and lean." Bruce is lean and I think more muscle inside is needed. Also an athletic wing wouldn't be a bad thing, a guy who can finish at the rim and hit an outside shot.

I was being semi-sarcastic. I have a great deal of faith in the staff. I'm sure the guys they've targeted for the 3rd scholarship are all quality players. Mid-majors generally have to seek out the diamonds-in-the-rough and hope they can develop. Worked out well with Mike and Nana.

Is there any logic to holding one back if our junior year targets are superior? Also, what if we have a legit recruit who doesn't need the athletic scholly but could have an a academic package pay the costs! For example, good student, low income family? Lastly, and sorry for all the questions, but have ever thought of splitting a scholly in half?

1. It might make sense to hold one back if they can't get a big man who is capable of starting down the road. In an ideal world, however, they would get one in this year so he could spend a year learning the system and D1 ball before being asked to be a major contributor.

2. Assuming a player is "recruited", if he gets any aid from the college - even need-based aid or most academic scholarships - he counts against the limit of 13 scholarships.

3. Basketball is one of the few sports where scholarships cannot be split.

From Adam Finkelstein: "ODU, Davidson, UMass, Bucknell, & Boston U among the schools that have reached out about Virginia transfer Jarred Reuter."

Reuter is a 6-8 PF who was rated three stars by all of the recruiting services. He averaged about 15 mpg for Virginia the first half of the season, but saw his minutes fall the second half. Had offers out of HS from at least 10 power conference teams such as Indiana, Florida, Iowa, UConn, etc.

MrPhillie, yes, UVA is a VERY good academic school. That being said, a Duke friend of mine said that many ACC schools are rumored to stretch things a bit if you can hit a 21' J, have a 40" vertical, or are 6'-8" or taller.

I really enjoy watching the 6'-8", athletic PFs that Bucknell has been able to recruit recently (Bruce Moore and Nate Sestina), but it would be nice to see a true BIG sign. Foulland might as well be 7'-0" tall given the length of his arms and the style of his game. So, I think of him as a BIG. That being said, was Mike Muscala (6'-11") the last player that Bucknell signed who was taller than 6'-9", and why do the Bison seem to have a difficult time signing BIG guys?

In a way, Muscala was the last signee greater than 6-9. I say that because he was "only" 6-9 when they signed him but grew to 6-10 during his senior HS year and then to 6-11 at Bucknell. (Mike was listed at 6-10 his freshman year.)

Having said that, there aren't a lot of guys around who are 6-10 or bigger, and most of the ones in that category aren't any good. In the 28 years starting with the 1990 season, I believe that BU has had eight players who were taller than 6-9: Muscala, McNaughton, Linthicum, Davornin Skornick, Steve Leshinski, Tom Hauser, Terence Skyrm, and Bryan Eisert. And the latter three really didn't play.

Looking at the PL rosters over the past five years - which include eight years of recruits - only American has done well attracting 6-10 players, having rostered three this year: Mark Gasperini, Andrija Matic, and Matt Cimino. Matic is transferring out. They also had 7-0 Gabe Brown for two years, but he transferred out to a D2/D3 school last year after rarely playing. Prior to those guys, they also had Zach Elcano and Tony Wroblicky.

Other teams:

- Army - Kevin Ferguson, Kieffer Jordan, Zach Lord
- Boston - Dylan Haines, Blaise Mgbargorba,

Excluding Bucknell, there are 24 players 6-10 or bigger. Three at some point made some level of All-PL (Wroblicky, Ferguson, and Kempton). Gasperini may have a shot, but it's way too early to tell. Of the rest, maybe 5-6 others were contributors, leaving about 15 who really didn't help much. Fitzpatrick or Sestina - both 6-6 - are better than the great majority of the above big men.

In recent years, more of the very good big men in the PL have been 6-8 or 6-9, e.g. Jared Mintz, Vlad, Stephen Lumpkins, Andrew Keister, Gabe Knutson, Dave Dudzinski, Daniel Trist. If the Bison can find a player as good as those guys for the final scholarship, I'd be very happy.

That being said, was Mike Muscala (6'-11") the last player that Bucknell signed who was taller than 6'-9", and why do the Bison seem to have a difficult time signing BIG guys?

137, amen to that. I would be extremely happy with any player in the Orange and the Blue who can play at that level.

Wow does time go by quickly. Seems like we were just talking about replacing Muscala/Johnson/Wilman and now we will be talking about replacing Nana/Thomas/Brown. Crazy.

We have a very strong team that's only going to get better. They seem hungry to get back to "the dance" and get beyond the first round.

I'm anxious to see our out of conference schedule for next season. Hopefully, it's as tough or tougher than last year.

Unless the deal is already done and we do not know about it,nobody of "import" will want to have anything to do with us next year. It is not going to be an easy scheduling year for ND.

10-4.

Looks like tournaments will be our only way to get high profile OOC competition then.

I saw on twitter today that this Bruninga kid might want to play baseball as well wherever he ends up signing.

Like Ted Aceto and Pat Flannery! I think there's a more recent name than those that I'm forgetting.

Tough thing to do with the basketball season ending in early March, a month after the baseball season starts and 2+ months after the pitchers have been throwing. Also hard to fully participate in fall ball in baseball with basketball workouts starting in October. But Ryan Ebner did it for a year, as a pitcher and a hoops PF/C, before fully committing to baseball. If he had thought he would get a lot of minutes going forward in hoops, he might have continued with both - but the arrival of Muscala and Willman likely convinced him his future was in baseball, where he became a very good pitcher.

JC Show had talked about wanting to stick around for another semester to play football. As many recall, he was first team all-state (large school class) for two years - at two different positions. And Starkey competed in track his final year. But I can't remember anyone since Aceto, other than Ebner for one year, who did it in baseball. Way back when, when basketball ended earlier and baseball started later, a few Bison baseball stars were also hoops starters, e.g. Vic Cegles and Chris Riley.

Some recent Bison big men also played baseball in HS: Oberfeld, Sestina, and Klebon to name three.

Mike Anders dropped basketball to focus on baseball after playing one season i believe.

interesting aspect wrt Bruninga is that two of the three schools he has scheduled official visits with, UNI and Loyola, do not have baseball teams.

fwiw, and that might not be a lot,

my reading of the tea leaves says we recently got our final commit. unfortunately, the tea leaves don't give up a name, so someone pretty far off the radar, although could be a name we have heard e.g. Porter Anderson, but just as likely someone completely unknown. guess we'll see in a few weeks when loi's get signed.

With KenZ bringing up the name of the apparently unsigned Porter Anderson, I googled him again. Although Hudl and Maxpreps list him at 6-8 240 lbs, a recent article on him being named to his All-Area team calls him 6-6. If that is an accurate height, then that would be a problem for a team seeking a center or big PF.

With no public evidence of continued recruiting, is it possible that a European or transfer has entered the picture? Total speculation.

Btw the spring signing period begins April 12th - this coming Wednesday - so we may not have to wait long if it is a done deal. However the signing period runs five weeks, and players are also free to commit all the way through the summer - just without signing a letter of intent.

Second the motion for some beef under the boards. Even a Willman type, who could more than hold their own in Patriot League games, had issues with non-conference big bodies. Perhaps the new transfer is the answer.

Offer to Malik Osborne 6-8 210 lb PF (IL) from Don Bosco HS in the Chicago suburbs.

Has offers from Oregon State, William & Mary, Rice, Drexel, East Carolina, Milwaukee, Texas State, and UMKC. He only had one offer, UMKC, before late February. And seven of the offers have come in the last week.

Osborne ended up committing to Rice. Their new coach, Scott Pera, was the other outside finalist for the Bison job. He took over for Flannery disciple Mike Roades, who is the new coach at VCU.

Had offers out of HS from at least 10 power conference teams such as Indiana, Florida, Iowa, UConn, etc.

https://twitter.com/AdamFinkelstein/statu s/8449452...

Reuter ends up at GMU. DP has done well with the three scholarships that were freed up when three sophs were convinced they needed to transfer. In addition to Reuter, another late addition is a good PF, Greg Calixte.
