Can somebody please explain why the most graceful, fastest and most talented player in the Ivy League isn't having a monster season? I had thought that he would be willing us to victory. What I see is a highly polished, complete guard who, seems to be holding himself back. I don't see the emotion, or the fire, or the refusal to lose that I had hoped to,see. He now has eight more IL games. I hope he lets it rip. |

I don't think Lo's season has been bad at all. I think he's first team All-Ivy if the season ended today. The team has been winning, so I'm not sure what else he can do to will the team to victory. As I pointed out before the season, his totals are going to relate some to the supporting cast. Could he score more? Sure, but those additional points would largely be taken from Rosenberg, Mullins, and Petrasek. If the offense is working, I don't see the point of a redistribution where Lo scores 18 per game. |

I've only seen a handful of games, but it appears teams are keying on him (big surprise), so instead of forcing the issue (taking contested 3's and/or driving to the hoop in major traffic), he's dishing off to his teammates when it makes sense to do so. I agree with SomeGuy... he's having a nice All-Ivy caliber season. I'd rather see him score 25 points this weekend and the Lions go 2-0, than see him put up 70 and have us go 0-2. Wins and losses are all that really matter at this point. |

I think he's having a nice year, but I also understand why the poster is perplexed. There are times when Lo drives to the hoop and scores in such a beautiful way that you think to yourself, "why doesn't he do that EVERY TIME". Well, he makes it look easier than it is, firstly, and also, when he is dazzling out there, that's highly energy consuming stuff. The only observation that I've made, personally, that may account for Lo's perceived "shortcoming" in his potential is his running off non-ball screens and shooting. The old pick, curl and pop. Last year, Lo did alot of that. He was starting to remind me of a Rip Hamilton with the dexterity and agility he demonstrated to slink around screens that osetkowski and others would set, and quickly shoot. This year, he just looks more stiff. Whereas last year he could run around screens and find open spots INSIDE the 3-point line, this year he's not doing quite as much of that. There's only 1 thing I can pin that on -- Frank being gone. Frankowski was a pretty shifty, nimble, dead-red shooter in his own right. He was also a real rah-rah guy. No idea how much he was in Lo's ear last year, but even just his leading by example probably influenced the way Lo played. I think last year it was against Penn when Frank when off for about 20 points in the first half and was hot as a pistol, using screens to curl and pop. Frank was a pro at that. Lo needs to do alittle more of it, especially to help collapse the defense a bit, which is flexed out most nights to prevent the 3-point shooting. All in all though, this is nitpicking. Kid is seriously talented. And he's great on D as well. |

His performances against Harvard, when he made Saunders seem lost, and against Princeton, when he was just unstoppable, were ones for the ages. Some of the older Princeton guys were saying that they hadn't seen a one man act like that since Bill Bradley. And Saunders, of course, was supposed to be the Ivy's best shut down defender with a 3" size advantage. It was those lightening fast curls around screens which were just a work of art. |

"Long, short and mid-range" are the three well-defined scoring areas in basketball, and I agree that for whatever reason it is the deterioration of Lo's mid-range game that has held him back this season on offense. Lo has become much too predictable on offense and needs to mix things up. However, not just Lo, but almost all the Columbia players (except Mullins and Rosenberg) have failed to do the necessary to expand their Game this season. Obvious examples include McComber who is an excellent outside shooter, but doesn't go to the basket at all, and Petrasek and Meisner, who drive to the basket occasionally, but from only one or two angles. Imagine how great the Columbia offense would be if Petrasek, Meisner and McComber would emulate Alex Rosenberg and start driving to the basket from all over the court. |

Lo's defense is going unsung here, he's incredible defending on the ball and he leads the league is steals/game by some margin and rebounds well for a guard, both of which are symptoms of his tough D. He's improved some aspects of his game, but overall we had hoped his experience with the German national team would have taken him to the next level. I think there's still time for him to bring that next level, this weekend would be nice! |

Thank you for focusing on defense, which is half the game, and a place where Columbia needs Lo much more than they do on offense. I think both the coach and the fans focus way too much on offense in all this analysis. I find it continually fascinating that the fan analysis of the team with the best offense in the league is that the team needs to do more on offense. You guys are already doing enough on offense. The defense has improved, but it still lags behind -- by a lot. Sure, Lo scored a lot against Harvard and Princeton last year, but that wasn't winning basketball -- it was one guy playing hero ball, which usually loses. I'm guessing Saunders didn't feel silly after the game, or while he was at the NCAAs. |

I'm sure Lo will get a few minutes of playing time in Summer League games, but it isn't a good sign. Needless to say, an undrafted player needs to really impress in the Summer League to stick with a team, and Lo won't get that chance. Hopefully, he can play for a high level European team for a year or two, and then sign with an NBA team. That's a better option than the D-League. |

And Zack Rosen in 2012. There have been a bunch of Ivy kids who played. I know Kyle Casey played both summer league and NBA preseason (briefly before getting cut). Wesley Saunders and Keith Wright have played summer league (and managed to get traded for each other in NBA D-League). |

Add TJ Bray to that list. Ian Hummer played too. On the way back list, add Brian Cusworth to the tally. We get lots of guys into summer league and some into the D-League. It's not a rare event by any stretch. It's just rare to seem them get NBA contracts. Pretty sure Ibby could have if he wanted to, but he was making much more in Europe, IIRC. |

The thing that might make Lo viable where other smart, skilled Ivy guards would struggle is what the writer didn't say: Lo isn't too slow. There is a chance he could guard people well enough to stay on the floor. |

Not sure how much chance there will be for anyone to shine with the German team this year. They didn't qualify for the Olympics in EuroBasket last summer, and they didn't participate in the final play-in tournaments earlier this year, so they won't be in Rio. Is there much non-Olympic international competition this summer? |
