Oy. I don't think it affects the Ivy situation that much, but Brennan and Gladson need to step up. Is there a rule that prevents Brase from taking another injury year? Didn't someone do that twice? I can certainly understand why he might not want to - he'll have a decent European pro career ahead of him.

No knock on Brase. But, we managed well last year without him. Good luck to him.

He will graduate in the spring so his career is over at Princeton. He will stay with the team and cheer them on. Hans was a team leader and the players loved him as a teammate.

His injury is a negative as to their Ivy League chances and particularly if they go to the Big Dance. Brase/Miller/Gladson is stronger than Miller/Gladson/Brennan when you play big teams. What made Yale so tough last year was Sherrod with Sears, two senior Bigs, along with Mason. In the Ivy League regular season, it probably has less of an effect other than playing Harvard. In fairness, they did well without Brase against Cal bigs, 7'1" and 6'11" so they can compete but I would have preferred Brase playing against a big #4 seed team in the NCAA tournament, if they get there, without a doubt. Fortunately, the smaller Tiger team does create match up problems for other teams and Miller can play D. With senior leadership, i.e. Weisz and others, there will be no quit for sure as a result of his injury --- maybe even more determination.

Terrible news for Brase. Best wishes to him, I feel for the kid who worked very hard to come back this year.

Yes. I meant the post as sad news for Brase. The impact on the team and the Ivy race is of course a concern, but I feel bad for him above all.

I hope he has a full recovery and is able to play next year as a graduate student somewhere, if he so desires.

Gesundheit, Hans.

I'm sure it's debilitating for any ivy student who can only fit within ivy eligibility rules by withdrawing from school, then to have that disruption rendered pointless.

Good luck to him in his recovery should he choose to keep playing post-grad.

Terrible break for Brase. I also hope he's able to recover and continue his career if he so chooses.

Penn fan here also feeling terrible for Brase... who worked hard to come back once under the crazy Ivy and even crazier Princeton rules. Silly that it actually penalizes kids who could otherwise have even more time learning at an Ivy institution.

The operative rule is the 5 years to finish 4 years of eligibility which is an Ivy one, though. The no-grad student is also an Ivy one too. I think the only Princeton rule to apply is not having a 5 year double major program like Penn does that can get around the need to withdraw for a year. But barring a waiver of Ivy rules, Brase can't withdraw again and come back next year and play OR if it wasn't too late to double-major he still couldn't play next year. From an educational, personal and professional point of view I can see where that wouldn't be desirable.

According to Richmond Times-Dispatch, Hans Brase has visited Richmond and is considering joining the Spiders as a Graduate Transfer.

Richmond is coached by former Tiger Chris Mooney and assistant coach Marcus Jenkins was an assistant at Princeton during Brase's time there.

Their do-everything center just graduated, so Brase ought to be a very welcome addition.

May 2 Jon Rothstein tweet: "Princeton grad transfer Hans Brase has cut his list to Richmond, Nebraska, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, and Iowa State, per a source."

If he goes it will be interesting to see him play on a team that will let him cut loose more?

Iowa State would be interesting--they like big guys who can shoot the three.

Brase visited GT today. I grew up a Tech fan so would be cool with this.

Richmond just lost AJ Kline, who was the ultimate in a 'do everything' big. Brase would have a great opportunity there.

His family lives in SC and attended every game, even after he was hurt. Richmond or GT would make it easier on them.

Looks like Hans Brase has chosen to go to Iowa State for the 2017-2018 season.

Per John Rothstein, Iowa State has cleared Hans Brase for non-contact work. If no issues arise, he will be cleared for play in six weeks.

Brase got a DNP in the Cyclones’ first game. Original plan was to get him 8 minutes but something didn’t feel quite right so they held him out.

Plan is to hold him out one more game but then have him play in the Puerto Rico tourney that (due to hurricane) has been relocated to his hometown in SC.

Another piece of bad luck for Brase. Out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Hope he recovers:
