We have gone steadily downhill each year from a recent high FT% of .749 (#14 in the country) in the 09-10 season (it was Rosen's senior year, not surprisingly). We are currently at .636 (#321 in the country) which is inexcusable. |

The weird thing is that there isn't an obvious reason why this team is so bad at FTs. There were some teams in the past that had some stone-handed shooters who couldn't hit a 15 footer to save their life. Yet this team is as bad as them. I suspect it may be due to the percentage of FTs coming from guards vs. forwards or something along those lines. Brodeur, MacDonald, and Howard seem like they should be able to be good FT shooters with a bit of focus. |

Howard is having a bizarre year in that his 3 pt % is markedly improved but his FT % is noticeably worse. Brodeur is shooting FTs at a lower clip than what his high school performance would have predicted. It would not surprise me if he ended up with a higher rate by the time his Penn career was over. His shooting form in general is fairly solid and his work ethic is great. When DNH came in his FT% was horrendous (and looked even worse) but by the time he graduated his rate was up. |
