Am I alone in noting that we are getting killed by the refs this year? I thought that the officiating this weekend was great- if you played for Yale or Penn. We just seem to get killed by bad calls, even at home. |

I think the officiating in Ivy play has been better than I can remember it in the games that I have seen thus far. There's been a real problem with block/charge calls for secondary defenders, and I think some of the points of emphasis (specifically shuffling of pivot feet on the perimeter and in the post) have been over called, often mistaking awkward motions for violations of the rule. Those are ubiquitous problems across college basketball refereeing, though. |

I thought the officiating on Friday night was pretty bad. Two goal tending calls that were not called, for example. Jones was working the refs all night. The flagrant foul calls were also bad. And the beginning of the Brown game basically put Coby out of the game. Granted much of this is subjective, but Columbia never seems to get the benefit of the doubt, even at home. And my admittedly subjective opinion is that the refs always kill the visiting team in New Haven. |
