Several things about Sat. game with Navy, Senior Day with a 12pm tipoff and more importantly 11:45am player/parent introduction. Another day with tight parking on campus, plan to get in Sojka and Lewisburg a little early, urged to wear Orange for the remainder of home games. Hopefully the students will get up early and come off the hill and support their team and classmates. One final comment, if you are in the building and see someone that looks like Chris Haas, he is back in Lewisburg and will be at the game. I got to talk with Chris today and he is doing well and looking forward to seeing the game tomorrow. Maybe a little extra incentive to play well, for their old team mate.

Ben Oberfeld will start tomorrow. Will be great to see him in uniform one more time.

"The Minnesota native has not been able to play at all this year due to a history of concussions, but the Navy program has graciously agreed to let “Obie” take an uncontested opening tip, after which he immediately will be replaced in the lineup by Zach Thomas."

Nana isn't dressed, I'm guessing he's out from being poked in the eye last game.

Go Ben Oberfeld! I'm happy the seniors are starting on senior day. Just a few years ago we had the 1 seed locked up and we were playing Navy and the seniors didn't start. Today is the way it should be. Maybe all NCAA teams can have some sort of in game tip ceremony to honor the seniors.

Per Doug and the Geisinger Sports Medicine Injury Report(R), said to be an eye injury. It is hoped he will return to practice on Monday and play Thursday.

That falls a good deal short of "he WILL return to practice on Monday and play Thursday."

Nice energy from the team so far today, leading 28-4. Navy is having a nightmare shooting half. JohnnyA and Zach playing very well...really everyone is playing well.

He did appear having discomfort, limping up the court, taking himself out and immediately going to he locker room. Definitely hope it is just a minor ankle. He is warming up coming out of halftime, so hopefully it isn't serious.

IMO, Bruce Moore would start and be All PL Freshman on most PL teams. There will still be a logjam of bigs next season, but Coach Davis needs to find more PT for him. He can play D, shoot inside, shoot outside, rebound, and make FTs. Once Thomas graduates, he should really come into his own.

Kimbal Mackenzie is so smoothe. When he pulls up for a 12-15 foot J, it is almost automatic.

Bring on the playoffs!

Nice turnout for Senior Day, community support probably best of the season. Student section pretty full for first half, they honored 3 or 4 teams for Patriot League Championships, really added to the crowd. Team played well, TV game, nice college atmosphere, all in all, one of the best games of the year.

I haven't commented much this year but have been following closely. Great regular season, but we all know that means very little. NIT is nice, but none of us want that.

I think Bruce Moore is going to be a real difference maker for this team. He's the kind of recruit that Bucknell wouldn't historically get. He's a very big and athletic guy who can really play the 2-4 without real issues. His defense and rebounding is great. He has to work on his offense a bit, like improving his first step but I can see him dominating the PL.

Kimball is my favorite player on this team. He always seems to make the right decision and I tend to trust him the most to calm the team and make a shot that stops runs. Also, he's the guy I want to be on the free throw line at the end of the game.

Thomas seems to make the dagger shots for us, but Kimball always seems like the guy that stops the runs or ignites one. Hopefully Thomas is good to go with the ankle, he didn't look like he had the same lift in the second half.

And lastly, that game was unbearable to watch. The refs were horrible and ruined any flow in the game.

Yes they were horrible. One of the worst reffing jobs in Sojka this year. Not just the normal Service Academy bias but just generally clueless officiating. Many calls looked like they were made with blindfolds on.

Did it look as bad on TV as it did in person?

Yes it was painful to watch. There does not need to be a stoppage for any sort of contact.

Doesn't seem all that bad, Bucknell 59 Navy 54, at Annapolis first game 50 fouls called. 99 fouls total for 2 games. I don't know of anyone that pays to watch the officials.

We just returned from Lewisburg. Random thoughts/observations: It was an interesting game. The senior recognition was great and the team and Ben showed emotion when he left the game. He's a good guy and we wish him the best. We actually felt bad for Navy in the first half. For 10 minutes plus absolutely nothing went right for them. But they played hard and showed a lot of heart, which is a reason I love having the service academies in the league. In the second half Bucknell showed some interesting combos on the floor and the play was understandably ragged at times. Also, it looked like we played a little zone which was welcome. I agree that Bruce played a great game and will be a big part of the team going forward. After the game, we had lunch at Matty's and Bruce and his family walked in and were given a nice round of applause by the fans.

The officiating really stretched this game out with there love of the monitor as Jay Bilas says make a decision and move on and don't date the monitor! It's a sin that the patriot league can not straighten out this mess! I have tried numerous times to reach out to the league with no response! The problem clearly upsets the fan base and when on TV some of the broadcasters basically make a joke out of them! The worst part of this is the fact that they draw more attention than a solid performance by a number of bison players.

I think DP's refusal to honor seniors, starting with Year 1, drove a bit of a wedge between him and some fans. His first year Jason Vegotsky was one of the first two subs off the bench - one who could gave been inserted into the starting lineup for a couple of minutes with no effect on the team - but he didn't start on Senior a Night. I believe that was the first time that happened at Bucknell for 50+ years and some didn't like it. I am glad the tradition has been revived.

After the game ended, I watched a good portion of the VCU/Rhode Island game. 55 called fouls and 69 attempted FTs.

Later in the PM, I watched about half of Duquesne/St. Bona. 56 fouls and 75 attempts.

It's an epidemic.

A Supreme Court decision a decade ago held that to be cruel and unusual punishment. Unanimously.

question for 137, if you want to comment,, what do you think is going on with the refs this season, or we all just nuts? it seems like they are making the games fan unfriendly, do you see the same kind of officiating at the major conference games .....by the way Dan Bowen was at the game on Sat, he could play.

I officiate and can tell you this is not on the Zebras totally. Those on the national level, Dan Gavitt, J.D. Collins etc have legislated the rule book now so much, officials HAVE to call what they think is contact. Problem is, if you call it early and establish that is what you're calling, you will get whistles for 40 minutes.

Yet, as we know in the PL, some of the crews we get on a Wednesday or Saturday, contain some experience and some lack of experience.

Mondays/Sundays/Thursday we get Jeff Anderson, Earl Walton, Tim Kelly, Donnie Eppley, all who do Power 5 high level games all year. Those games are officiated differently.

Illegal screens are becoming like block/charges, im not sure any of us know what is allowed anymore.

Hope we see you next Sunday

Just food for thought, Lehigh is most penalized team in PL , 52nd in the country. Lafayette 2nd, 67th, Bucknell 3rd!!! 131, Navy 4th!!! 137... Maybe we both just foul too much..

I appreciate your comments V of Navy, that said, the part "call what they think is contact" how about what they see, "those games are officiated differently", same rule book should dictate same foul calls, Patriot League, Big Ten, just my thoughts. I understand that an officials job is not easy as kids are bigger, stronger and faster overall, but I have been attending basketball games since the 1950's and never have heard so many fans seem so agitated about what look like bad calls, right or wrong.

Every set of eyes and reactions are different. Contact that could be allowed as NON-disadvantageous to the offensive player, is no longer classified as that. We used to be able to officiate on the advantage-disadvantage principle. Back then, fans would clamor for that contact to be called. It's a no-win for the officials and the teams now.

My point on what they think is contact and what they think they see, officials behind players can't see the contact on the other side of the player.

We had a player get called for a trip two games ago who was two feet on the other side of the offensive player and the guy with ball slipped. Official was on sideline behind guy with ball saw him go down and assumed it had to be because the guy tripped him. Those are the calls we need to clean up and the use of replay.

Army game, we were called for a basket interference that negated a 3-pt shot for us, when replay showed clearly Army guy was grabbing the net, but, play is not subject to review. A play being made, by the mechanics of officiating by a guy 28-feet away is not subject to replay!!!

Thanks, I know it isn't easy, however, about 6 or 7 years ago, i told a young person starting out as a basketball official, one bit of advice. If at the end of a game, nobody knew you were there, you did a good job.
