Up by eight in the waning moments of the first half and with Penn having six fouls, the Lions inexplicably stop attacking the basket and Penn goes on a big run to take a two point lead at halftime. Columbia's mysterious substitution pattern continues with Kendell Jackson playing most of the first half after not seeing much action the last three weeks. Quinton Adlesh hit from the outside before he was yanked. Columbia has a chance to defeat Penn if the coaching staff leaves Luke, Patrick, Nate, Mike and Quinton on the floor from the beginning of the second half until they buzzer sounds |

Not sure why the Lions didn't take another foul before AJ put up his 3 to end the half. They had a foul to give. |

Hickman, smith and petrasek played great, focused and aggressive games. Smith was heroic. The others carried their weight for the most part by staying aggressive defensively and keeping focus as well. We looked like a motivated team today and it showed. We won this game between 10 and 5 minutes from the end of the second half, where we out hustled and out focused penn. penn was certainly determined today, but we gave it 101%, it was a well earned win against a good team, proud of our guys. |

Probably Smith's best all-around game. Unlike last night when Princeton had the speed to trap him, he ran the offense well and got free enough to score 20. Now we have to beat Brown next weekend and assume, not unreasonably, that Harvard will trounce Penn. |

More to the point, Harvard may have nothing to play for by then. Penn will have everything to play for and, just as your team was inspired by Senior Night, the Quakers will likely get a lift there, too. |

Really gutsy win. Smith had his best game and Luke came up big. Interesting lineup with Smith and Jackson playing together for significant stretches.

I was at the game at Allston and Penn DID NOT have Harvard by the noose late in the game. I am not sure what game you were watching,
Now we have to beat Brown next weekend and assume, not unreasonably, that Harvard will trounce Penn. Doubtful. Penn actually had Harvard by the noose in Allston but let them off the hook late. Although it may not be as crucial to Harvard as to Penn, I would be really surprised if the first year talent at Harvard, now come together and playing well, would lose the game. Penn will presumably beat Dartmouth. But I expect Harvard's front line to contain Brodeur, and the guards to contain Betley and Donahue. That said, since I would not count on a victory against Yale, Columbia still has to rise to the occasion and defeat Brown |

They led for most of the first half. They led for most of the second half until under 7 minutes to play. Harvard took only its third lead of the game with 5:19 to play. |

After they Penn lost its big lead in the 1st half, they were never up by more than 3 or 4. I thought Penn played very poorly for the entire second half and never a time after the beginning of the game were they dominated Harvard. I would be very hard pressed to say that they "Had them by the noose". I have not watched much Ivy Basketball this year, but Harvard was clearly the more talented and athletic team. I would not be so confident that Penn will beat Harvard next week, unless Harvard takes the night off because they will really have nothing to play for. |

Nice win tonight. Good luck next week. I think that you will also get some help from harvard which has quietly been dominating its competition since it's tight loss to Princeton. Also, Harvard has every reason to play hard against Penn as it still has an outside shot at a tie for the regular season title (even though, with the tourney, its importance is greatly diminished☹ï¸) |

Nothing to do with my confidence in the Tigers. Do you understand the meaning of "outside chance"? But, I think I see what you mean since I erroneously thought, as I posted, that Harvard played Penn Friday, when they can't yet be eliminated, rather than Saturday. My point, in that scenario, was that they would still have plenty of motivation at game time, But, since they MAY be eliminated when they play Penn Saturday, you have a point. Of course, if they upset Princeton Friday, they will still be in the race and even more motivated to beat Penn. Bottom line: harvard is a tough team that is young and getting better. Neither P can afford to take them for granted. It doesn't bother me a bit to say that they will be tough in the Tourney no matter who plays against them. After Princeton's exceptional season to date with seniors who have never before won an Ivy title or played in the NCAA you should at least be able to understand, even if you don't sympathize, why Princeton fans get irked at the extra hurdles thrown at our team in order to get the NCAA bid. I think this team can do it. But, they shouldn't have to. And, if the tables were turned and Penn were in our position with a tourney played in Jadwin, I would be able to hear your whining all the way down here on the sea of Cortez.

If penn beat Dartmouth at home, which they certainly will. We must beat Brown away. And strangely, after that the Yale game is becomes 100% irrelevant for us... both penn and Columbia will be 6-7. If penn goes 7-7 by beating H, even if we beat Y, we're out. If penn goes 6-8 losing to H, even if we lose to Y we're in! So actually we should probably spend this whole week prepping for Brown, who is now eliminated from the tourney race. |

The Penn team that won at Yale would beat Harvard at the Palestra, and probably do it fairly easily. I think the top of our range is plenty good enough. Of course, we are 0-3 on Ivy Saturday nights, with 3 losses to teams that are all significantly weaker than Harvard. So the odds that team shows up aren't that great. |
