Jake Lanford, a 2 star 6' 8" C from Porter-Gaud School in Charleston (SC), committed to Yale.

This local news story notes that he is one of the top 10 players in the state, http://www.live5news.com/story/36399532/porter -gau...

According to Verbal Commits, he chose the Elis over Columbia, Wofford, Mercer, Western Carolina, Appalachian State, College of Charleston, North Florida, Cal Poly, Georgia Southern, Ausitn Peay, Winthrop and Furman.

Hoop Phenom Report wrote about his this past February, http://www.phenomhoopreport.com/news_article/show/...

The article highlights a comment from analyst Jeff Bendel -
"6’9 Jake Lanford (2018). He stands out immediately, as he’s built like a rhino and possesses a true next-level frame. Lanford is a big man capable of handling any assignment on either end of the floor, knows how to force his will against opposing big men. Offensively, he’s great from the free throw line in, extremely smart and efficient with each opportunity given from that area. Displays the ability to draw his jumpshot out to the elbows, however, he’s a natural post up brute. On the low block, he’s strong, has shown the ability to finish well with either hand over either shoulder. Lanford was hands-down the best pick-setter showcased from any team during Summer Havoc, both on and off-ball. Defensively, he controls the paint and is a consistent defensive anchor for his team; blocks shots with regularity and guards the perimeter well for a big man. Works incredibly hard every second on the floor, motor is not an issue. High upside possibilities, possesses all the tools to become a successful big man at the next level."

FWIW, Lanford's teammate at AAA and Porter Gaud is Aaron Nesmith. VC lists him as a 2 star SF and Rivals lists him as a 3 star wing. Earlier this summer he trimmed his list to Yale, Harvard, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Florida, Vanderbilt and Georgetown.

According to an 9/18/17 article in Charleston's Post & Courier newspaper, Nesmith's H.S. coach believes he will choose Florida or Vanderbilt, with an outside possibility of South Carolina. The coach expects Nesmith's decision any day.

Isaiah Kelly, a 3 Star (per Scout and Rivals) 6' 6" SF from Pace Academy in Georgia, committed to Yale last night.

According to 247 Sports, Kelly had offers from
Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Brown, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Cincinnati, Xavier, Memphis, UAB, FGCU, Bucknell, and Hofstra.

According to Rivals, he had offers from Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Cincinnati, Xavier, Memphis, FGCU, and Alcorn State.

According to Verbal Commits, he had offers from Brown, Penn, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Memphis, FGCU, and Alcorn State.

On The Radar Hoops Report had a summary of Kelly in late August:
http://ontheradarhoops.com/otrhoopsreport-2017-1 8-...

"Kelly has the combination of smarts and athletic ability that makes him a hot commodity for Ivy League schools and Power Five programs on the recruiting trail. His offer list ranges from the likes of Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to Iowa State, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin. Whoever lands the 6-foot-6 senior will be getting a complete student-athlete."

Last September, the same site summarized his performance at its Fall Showcase:
http://ontheradarhoops.com/stars-shine-at-the-ot r-...

"Kelly’s transition from athletic frontline player to full time wing handler looked to be complete at the Fall Showcase. At 6-7 he spent a good amount of time handling the ball and dishing to teammates in transition. In addition he hit several 3s including a couple in transition. Kelly is a smooth, polished player who can still run down the lane and punch on a defender’s head if the opportunity is given. Kelly’s versatility and athleticism have earned him offers recently from Cincinnati, Harvard, Iowa State, Rutgers, Wisconsin and Xavier."

With Kelly's commitment, Yale now has 4 members for the fall of 2018. The others are Jake Lanford, Eze Dike-Nwagbara, and Michael Feinberg.

Matthue Cotton, a 6'5" SG from Vorhees (NJ), committed to Yale. After starting at Eastern Regional High School in Vorhees, he moved to St. Benedict's Prep in Newark. He is a 4-Star recruit at ESPN and a 3-star recruit at 247 Sports. 247 Sports lists him as the #9 recruit in NJ, #70 at the SG position and #292 overall.

Cotton chose Yale over Penn, Brown, Columbia, Miami, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, Rutgers, St. Bonaventure, VCU, Temple, St. Joe's, La Salle, UMass, Tulane, NJIT, Towson, and Hartford.

In July 2016, the City of Basketball Love website had a scouting repot on Cotton:
http://www.cityofbasketballlove.com/matthue-cotton

- "A rapidly-developing prospect, Cotton's ceiling has risen quite a bit over the last 6-8 months, and a move to St. Benedict's (N.J.) should only further his growth. Growing in ability and assertiveness seemingly by the day, Cotton is starting to turn heads with his consistent, high-level play over the last few months. The 6-foot-4 lefty, a 3-point specialist early on in his career, is really starting to develop his off-hand dribbling ability so he can take defenders off the bounce, which in turn makes him a more effective outside shooter with opponents forced to respect his all-around game. While a year ago he looked more like a slightly undersized ‘3’, Cotton now has the look of a true off-guard, especially if he continues to develop in these same areas. His recruitment has already reached Atlantic 10 levels (July 2016), and high-major schools are starting to show serious interest. If he can show the ability to play the '2' spot at a consistently high level over his junior year, Cotton should see the offers pour in when he hits the 17U circuit in 2017."

Cotton joins Jake Lanford (C), Isaiah Kelly (SF), Michael Feinberg (SG), and Eze Dike-Nwagbara (PG) in the Class of '18 recruiting class.
