You guys too stuffed with stuffing to notice this nice road win by the Big Red? Apparently accompanied by some defense this time:

I'm so used to rbq starting these threads. I hope he's okay....

The game turned in at the close of the first half. Duquesne had just taken an 8 point lead. Gettings made a lay-up and was fouled with :23 left. He missed the FT, but Boeheim grabbed the rebound and Jack Gordon hit a fall away three with :02 left. Gordon missed a chance at a four point play, but the Big Red outplayed the Dukes the rest of the way.

Morgan had his standard 24p 5a game. Gettings looked great offensively and Steve Julian was huge with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the concern. All is well, I was kept away from the internet for a little while due to travel and work issues.

Great to see the Big Red pick up its first road win of the season. Also, the first two game win streak for Coach Earl.

Mountainred was correct about the momentum shift at the close of the half. Cornell came out with more intensity and confidence in the second half. In the end, it seemed to be the team's most complete performance of the season.

http://www.cornellbigred.com/boxscore.aspx?path=mb...

Cornell shot 56% overall for the 3rd straight game. As opposed to those other 2 games, they were no as successful from three (6 made at 29%). They were able to compensate and hit 25 two pointers on 74% shooting.

Morgan was his usual self on offense. Gettings seems to be getting back in shape. He was limited more from foul trouble than any physical issues, managing to score 19 points in 18 minutes. The offense is certainly a plus, but he has also improved his ball control. In the last three games, he has played 58 minutes and only has committed 4 turnovers. Julian and Bathurst had great all-around games, as well.

With the offense clicking, the defense was the difference the other night. In the 2nd half, the Big Red limited Duquesne to 31% shooting and 4 three pointers. The only thing that kept the Dukes hanging around was its offensive rebounding and solid free throw shooting.

The Big Red visit Northeastern on Saturday. Last year, Cornell beat Northeastern, 80-77, at Newman for Coach Earl's first home victory. With a win on Saturday, the team will have first three game win streak since Shonn Miller was in uniform (11/26/14 - 12/6/14 vs Canisius, Binghamton and UMass-Lowell).
