Here's a new NCAA study on D1 transfers in basketball: Tracking Transfers in D1 Men's Basketball One of the conclusions: "About 40% of all MBB players who enter Division I directly out of high school depart their initial school by the end of their sophomore year." In contrast, Bucknell has had two scholarship players transfer - O'Brien and Show - since scholarships began. I believe that 41 freshmen came in on scholarships (not counting the current frosh and sophs). That makes the Bucknell transfer rate about 4.9%.

Relative to the above, there are three PL programs (of the core eight) that have had a ton of transfers - American, Lafayette, and Army. Lehigh, Colgate, and Navy have had the next most - and HC has had the fewest other than Bucknell. Without checking closely, I believe HC has had four during the same time span - Mitch Hahn, Joe O'Shea, Joe Young, and Josh Kramer. RJ Evans transferred to UConn for his final year of eligibility, but I don't count him since he stayed four years at HC and graduated.

That's a truly impressive number and says a lot about the program. That probably lower than the student body as a whole. |
