Interesting matchup at what's going to be a full Levien Gymnasium for Columbia's alumni weekend. Columbia, at 1-3, is desperate for the win it needs against a top half Ivy team. A guard oriented team, Columbia has size with Faulds, Tape and Meisner, but Tape and Faulds play less than 20 minutes and Meisner prefers to score away from the basket. Lewis will have his hands full, but the little known stat is that Columbia's big 3 can't shoot FT's: 30-60 or 50% among them. Faulds and Tape are below 50% (although Tape hit 70% last year). Irony is that Lewis needs to stay out of foul trouble. Welsh has been playing well. Time for Egi? Can't give up easy ones to guys who can't shoot FT's. |

Just glad the lineup is more settled than when we went to Levien last year. Big first half deficit until Corey made it close. Let's just see if Bryce can continue to move forward in his recovery (even with last week's late tweak). Even a split with positive play from him this weekend would be an excellent progression toward the rest of the real Tournament (the 14 game one). If Towns continues his recent play (on both ends), we should be ready for the upcoming battles with the Ps. |

Feels like Harvard could save the trip if Columbia just puts out a ball rack at the three point line, fires away and is given the W if it shoots over a certain percent and the L if not. That's going to be the way that Columbia cracks the Harvard D. So, if Harvard has an average offensive day, it's going to come down to merely how well the Lions shoot from three. |

Unfortunately too many games are settled that way. The Splash Sisters have shown how successful it is. I, for one, would prefer that the first 35 minutes be contested without the 3 point shot. |

If Aiken is able to provide something like 20 decent minutes, I like Harvard's chances. I just like the OOC road grind that the team endured this year (except for the W-L record). Corey was 7-14 from 3 last year (on fire in the 2nd half after Harvard got down by 19), while rest of team was 3-25. Columbia shot 8-16 from 3. Bryce and Seth were 7-25 from field last year. Assuming health, I expect we'll see more games whet they both have big games (the Brown game with 30 for Seth and 18 for Bryce (11-12 from FT line) was a nice start). Last year Bryce torched Yale and Seth played big at Princeton (when Bryce had a rough game). |

Aiken: O for 6 from the floor, with 2 PF and 2 turnovers. |

While some here did, doubtful Amaker forgot about Adlesh. As opposed to the Cornell game, the Lions hit FTs big time.

Anyone have a Columbia second half shooting percentage? Unreal performance. |

Am I right to assume we shut down Bryce for the season now? |

Anyone have a Columbia second half shooting percentage? Unreal performance. 15-25 overall, 7-15 from three. 1.50 points per possession. |

Columbia 2d half shooting: 60% FG 7-15 3's 11-12 FT's The box scores from Harvard's schedule on gocrimson.com let's you select box score by half and play by play breakdown. I think MrSmith called it right. If an opponent shoots very well then Harvard's offense will struggle to keep up. When an opponent shoots well in a road game, it's usually tough for any team. Harvard was 6-18 on 3's in the second half after shooting 10-19 in the first half. To my eye, both teams moved the ball well and shot well, but Columbia did it better in the second half resulting in more open looks and, well, some very opportune bombs from long range. Backbreakers at times. I did feel that when Lewis rested is when Columbia won the game. Tommy tried to keep him out there as long as he could. With Lewis (+3), without him (-10)(roughly). With two bigs Columbia dominated Welsh and Djuricic. Welsh didn't score and had 2 rebounds and 3 fouls. Djuricic his 2 three's, but Columbia just kept posting down low, creating mismatches. Tape hit 5-6, but help resulted in open looks for others. Without Lewis, Meisner started posting Towns and Djuricic effectively. Bryce looked distraught as he made it to bench. Tough kid. Great competitor. Gotta give him a lot of respect and hope for the best. Gotta do what's best for Bryce. Tournament, 4-1 start and schedule - 6 of remaining 9 games at home, finishing with Columbia and Cornell - all work in favor of shutting Bryce down. Bassey did a great job in the first half on Smith, holding him to 2 points. A win at Cornell tonight will help. |

From Voy: As an H alum, I never cease to be amazed at H's uber self-promotion. If you read the H Athletics website's recap of last night's game, except for one short sentence near the end that really gets lost in the blizzard of self-praise, you would certainly never know that H lost the game. An amazing job of revisionist history that puts to shame the Kremlin's art in former days of retouching photos to make people disappear. This is the most inaccurate recap of a game that I can remember ever reading on any Ivy's website. Could this sort of thing be where fake news got its start?

Who goes to a school site to read a recap written by the SID expecting an objective recounting of the game? |

After all, Harvard is the institution that continually changes the conference rules to favor itself. |

Did H actually take 37 threes? 2nd most since 2010 -- behind only the game at Columbia last year. http://cbbref.com/tiny/x7EJ2 |
