According to my FIOS programming guide (here in Princeton NJ), the game will be televised on both SNY (channels 78 & 577) and NBCSPA+ (channels 99 & 595). FWIW, Brown v Harvard will be on NESN.

Penn's last victory at Levien was 1/13/12, when Zack Rosen & Company held on for the 66-64 win.

The game has been announced as a sellout. You can try the Columbia box office to see it any extra tickets have become available, try to scalp outside or find a sports bar, because the game is on SNY.

Actually, I preferred the old Dodge Gym (where Jim MacMillian played) with the dead spots. If you knew where the dead spots were, you could steal it from a dribbler as he passed over them.

Some start. Taking poor 3s and we are 1-10 or so to start. Two bad o boards and some bad AJ d have led to a 14-3 deficit. The shots will start to fall. They have to.

Starters have 7 points in a half of basketball and frankly looked bad doing it. Our top 6 scores 12 points in a half. Hope the top 6 can get out of the haze they played in for the first half.

Thank goodness for Devon Goodman having an amazing half to keep us in it, but other folks have to step up. This is a tough place to play for sure, but that didn’t look like a first place team in the first half. Hoping they can really get going.

Columbia is really up Sh.t Creek.

But yes, Penn couldn't get over the hump from the time they got within 3 late in the first half until about 6 minutes to go and then simply destroyed Columbia despite not being able to shoot either 3 point shots or foul shots.

Still, they give up 3 point plays and offensive rebounds off of missed foul shots and still are up 10

Note that in all of Penn's tight Ivy victories somebody stepped up and did something unexpected, like AJ's 3's against Columbia at home, Silpe's threes, or Devon's performance tonight. So the biggest improvement in this team is its flexibility, depth and, of course, defense. Also high marks to Steve for the progress of so many players and finding good moments to feature them.

I don't think getting random contributions is the formula for a solid team. I would just as soon get the wins from the same old boring core group that steps up every effing game.

Was there and still kind of amazed at that 18-0 run after being unable to get over the hump for so long.

Once Penn got a four-point lead Columbia seemed to lose all their rhythm, going faster and faster on each possession, and taking lots of bad shots.

There was a critical sequence that really fired up the team and the bench right after Penn had nosed ahead 55-54 on a Goodman layup. Penn had Caleb Wood making a sideline inbound right in front of the Penn bench. Meissner knocked back Caleb’s first attempt to lob a pass over him to A.J., and after doing so got up in Wood’s face with a stare down, before the ref handed Caleb the ball to re-attempt the inbound. That attempted intimidation made a bunch of guys on the Penn bench angry, especially Max (surprise surprise).

Wood successfully got the ball in on the second try, and they ran a set that ended with him curling around an excellent A.J. screen, which left Meissner flailing at air as Caleb drained the three in his face that put Penn up 4. The whole Penn bench erupted as the shot went through, and began woofing at Meissner as he inbounded the ball (McDonald was one of the most animated). Columbia called timeout after they got the ball into the frontcourt, and the whole team was congratulating Wood as he came to the bench.

A couple defensive possessions later, A.J.’s block of the Meissner 3 and subsequent dunk set them off again.

Thanks for that Chip. Definitely couldn't see that on the tv angle. Makes it even sweeter.

Am I the only one who thinks it's incredibly soft to honor a second place football team? And to to it in Penn's face? Really? Wait till you win a title to do it. That run at the end made it that much better.

Then the Flyers won and I thought I was finished enjoying sports for the evening...and then I saw there was one last Ivy game still going on. Oh was that fun to watch. Now we get a tired Cornell team and the evil ones are in some deep trouble.

I just went back and watched it again. That was ridiculous. What a clown. Meissner REALLY got right up into Caleb's face. Smart play tough guy. As you said, the guys went nuts. There is no doubt that this is a unified team. The care about and really play for each other. As the entire sporting world saw 2 weeks ago, that kind of thing, mixed with good play, can go a long way...

I should correct myself: the great screen on the 3 was set by Goodman, not Brodeur, who instead got the assist with the pass from the top of the key. The completeness of Goodman’s game in all facets tonight was really astonishing.

The word I heard very much at secondhand tonight from the Pennsider contingent was that Goodman’s inability to hit jumpers was really the only thing holding back his PT in the past several weeks. Got to guess he must have had a great shooting week in practice to earn the early run in the first half against the Lions. He sure took advantage of the opportunity.

Goodman played initially because the plan was to play him based on matchups. We also saw a lot of Jake early and more Matt M instead of Max and even Antonio. The matchups favored those players. Kudos to Dev G who came from the dungeon to have a monster game.

I thought using Goodman to shadow Smith was a stroke of genius. Turns out he gave Smith fits at both ends of the floor.

Wood had a very good game as well. If you'd told me at 5pm this afternoon that we would win this game convincingly with just two points from Betley and minimal contributions from the rest of the starters, I'd have told you you were insane.

In addition to the Wood-Meisner inbounds staredown (the ref really should have pushed Meisner back another foot or so off the sideline) and AJ's steal and dunk, I thought that mid-court loose ball scramble where we came up with it was another point at which the momentum shifted in our favor.

Steve D. certainly went long stretches with 4 wings and and 5, either Max or A.J. Even the smallest possible group of 4: at one point I think there was a Goodman/Silpe/Foreman/Woo ds combo out there. Engel responded by going big. Needless to say that’s when Columbia had a couple of their best putback scores.

Echoing your thoughts from earlier, Chip, I was there and still can't believe we won, nor can I believe we won by so much. That AJ block/steal/dunk was fantastic, but this was Dev Goodman's game. I have been a big supporter of his and been increasingly frustrated that he has not gotten all that much run this season, and I'm really glad he came through tonight. I have to wonder if there's still a bit of a hangover from 5 games in 9 days amongst some of the starters, and my hope is that that resolves itself soon so we can keep on winning.

Goodman was actually playing as Smith on the scout team this week, per Donahue (and they couldn't guard him).

I continue to be fascinated by Donahue's rotations. We'll probably still see a couple more changes by march.

One other small item: Columbia gave a contestant a trivia question during one of the timeouts which said Columbia was one of only X teams to have 3 different players score 20 points in a game this season:

A) 3
B) 5
C) 7

The crowd screamed “C” and thus so did the contestant, but the purported correct answer was “B” although no one I was sitting with believed it to be true.

Meanwhile Devon Goodman became the 8th Penn Quaker to reach the 20-point mark in a game in 2017-18. He joins:

A.J. Brodeur
Ryan Betley
Max Rothschild
Antonio Woods
Caleb Wood
Eddie Scott (thank you 4 OT game!)
Darnell Foreman

Seems it might have been an issue of phrasing and I don't think you properly quoted them (your phrasing makes it make more sense, though not perfect). If I remember correctly, I don't think that they made it clear that it was three DIFFERENT players in the SAME game. That said, it could also just be that their sound system is terrible (like their entire gym), so I may not have heard it properly.

Wow. So proud to be a fan of this particular team.

They definitely did not make that clear, although i can see now that it was likely prompted by the recent OT Brown game where Smith, Meissner, and Stefanini went for 20 apiece.

We know Penn had Betley, Woods, and Scott all do the same in the 4OT game against Monmouth. Are there really only three other D-I games this year where three players on one team had 20+?

I think the question was how many OTHER teams have had it happen, but again, not worded well. I'd love to know where the stat came from so we could go confirm it.

If you go through the team you can buy one package for both games. If you go through the Ivy site you have to buy them per game.

Am I the only one who thinks it's incredibly soft to honor a second place football team? And to to it in Penn's face? Really? Wait till you win a title to do it. That run at the end made it that much better.

Did that really happen? I did not watch the halftime. Given the state of that program for so long, I guess Bags was all for building a little momentum.

I really think PU is done. How do you come back from a loss like that and the hole they are in. They actually played and shot well. Had the game in hand for quite a while. Cornell took our game plan against them to another level. Get to the line 32 times and hit 29 of them. Amazing.

Goodman played initially because the plan was to play him based on matchups. We also saw a lot of Jake early and more Matt M instead of Max and even Antonio. The matchups favored those players. Kudos to Dev G who came from the dungeon to have a monster game.

I think those of us that were looking for Goodman to get back in the mix are feeling awfully good today; but I don't think any of us, and that includes SD, saw last night coming. This improves both our depth and ability to matchup considerably. Let's see if they use him on Morgan tonight.
