Columbia defeats a tired princeton team 85-60. Castlin with a career high 22 plus strong games from Adlesh, Smith, and Meisner. We are 4-6, and tied with Brown and Cornell for the last spot in the tournament. |

It's amazing how hot Columbia can get, and that lasted pretty much all game tonight. 85 points on 63 possessions (1.35 ppp) for the game. I think Columbia is clearly best out of the 4-6 pack but the B/Y visits next week will define the race. http://www.nycbuckets.com/2018/02/columbia-prol ong... |

Next week is H/D, and we finish at home against Y/B. I am really at a loss for words. After an eight minute meltdown in the Penn game I didn’t really expect this. Castlin really needs to be on the floor for us.

Princeton has been abysmal lately, I don't read much into our victory. It's a nice thrashing, but our teams have always done this; blow out a few and lose all the close ones. Only our w/L record matters, not our point differential, so we need consistency, grit to hold onto leads and importantly better late game coaching. The whole league is just awful this year, and that's the only reason we're tied 4th. |

We're still alive. We need to take care of business at home next week against Brown and Yale, and then beat Dartmouth on the road. Obviously lot could go wrong, but that seems like a realistic scenario. Could we possibly be peaking a just the right time? And then in a short two game tournament, anything can happen. |

The Princeton game mirrors our January 20th defeat of Cornell, 88-62, where we shoot 3s, defend reasonably well, and everything goes right. The question is whether last night was our monthly outlier, whereupon we promptly revert to losing virtually all the close games, or whether we have actually turned things around. If we have turned things around, and then there is a tie, our defeat of Harvard looms large, because if the games among teams with the same record are split, then we are the only team that has defeated the likely 1st or 2nd spot holder. |

We will lose to Yale because makai Mason is back. Brown will likely be very close. Harvard and an improved dartmouth will take us at home. We're still in the running, but I'm not optimistic, we've shown no consistency this season |

If the Lions win out, they would be 8-6. At that point, the worst they could do is be tied for 3rd/4th with Yale or Cornell. If tied with Cornell, they would be the 3rd seed based on a split with the Big Red and a victory over Harvard. If tied with Yale, they would have split the season series with the Bulldogs. Yale would have a win over Penn and Columbia would have a win over Harvard. So, the 3rd seed would depend on which team ended up the #1 seed. 7-7 would be more complicated. |

You are correct. However, I believe the only way for Columbia and Yale to get to 8-6 would be for Columbia to win out (vs Brown, Yale, Dartmouth and Harvard) and Yale to go 3-1 (lose to Columbia; win over Cornell, Penn and Princeton). |

Yep. That final weekend will be nuts. Barring Harvard sweeping and Penn getting swept this coming weekend, 1st place will still be up for grabs and at minimum the 4 seed will be up for grabs as well. |

It makes no difference who starts. Castlin provides scoring for the second unit in the first half and he finishes the game. He gets starters’ minutes. That is what is important. Columbia’s problem is not starting off poorly. The team usually sprints to big leads. The issue is how to maintain leads and how to finish. Castlin can help a lot in these areas if he can consistently play at anywhere near Saturday’s level. |
