Now that the men's schedule is out, a little speculation on the women's schedule. In the past, they have played the maximum number of games that is allowed without being in a tournament, i.e. 11 OOC games plus 18 PL games. Return games that seem likely are: - Rider - Youngstown State - @ Canisius - @ Binghamton - Iona - Fordham Will likely pick up one power-conference team, possibly two. Hopefully they can arrange one doubleheader with the men - either on November 10th or December 1st.

women's ooc and partial (why?) pl schedule had been posted http://www.bucknellbison.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSI... inlcudes a game @Iowa St. (homecoming for Kate Walker) as well as @Syracuse. no Fordham game, but Quinny which has been very good last few years is coming to Sojka |

I am not going to research it, but I doubt the women have ever had a tougher foursome of OOC games top to bottom. Massey rankings last year for the strong four were Quinnipiac (35), Syracuse (42), Iowa State (66), and Drexel (72). Having said that, the Bison - if healthy - should be favored in the other seven games. Quinny should be better this year. They only graduated one player (the coach's daughter) and they figure to get back two of their top players, both of whom missed almost the entire season with ACL injuries. Their records for the last six years are 30-3, 21-13, 31-4, 25-9, 29-7 and 28-6. That's 164 wins in six season, i.e. an average of over 27 wins a year. Btw, the women have never played Quinny, Syracuse, Iowa State, or UMass.

That's a very tough schedule. Quinnipiac went to the Sweet 16 2 years ago, where they lost to S. Carolina and won their 1st round game last year before losing to UConn in the 2nd round. |

No men/women doubleheaders during OOC. Although a good chance for a couple of games in Dec 18 Youngstown and 15 Rider |

Should we interpret the scheduling up as confidence by the coaching staff that the program is being more competitive outside the PL? Or is it coincidence? Also, what kind of pay days do women's teams get when they travel to High Major schools? Is there a pay day? |

Barring injury, the Bison should be the preseason pick for #1 this year, with perhaps American and Loyola as the biggest threats. Maybe Lehigh as well. Last year's champ, American, lost three starters but does return some good players. And Navy, who made the title game, lost their top three players - although they typically have a lot of solid players. The Bison have a lot of talent this year - but not a lot of height. As for paydays, they are not nearly as big on the women's side since the average attendance at most schools is much lower. For example, in 2017 only 6 schools (S. Carolina, UConn, Notre Dame, Louisville, Tennessee, and Iowa State) averaged over 6700 in attendance. Also with the exception of UConn, the cost of a ticket is much lower - meaning far less revenue. You'll note that Iowa State is among the schools that draw well, but tickets are cheap. A good reserved seat is $160 for the season - about 16 games - and a full season general admission seat is $99. A good reserved season seat for their men's games costs $600 PLUS an athletics contribution of $5000+. One other factor is that because so few programs make money, the ones that do turn a profit don't have a lot of competition when it comes to buy games - thus they don't have to pay large amounts.
