This podcast with Coach Donahue is very good: https://basketballimmersi on.com/the-basketball-pod... Indeed it is. I listened to it on my way to work this morning. I would recommend that we all listen, and watch the way the team plays with a different perspective. SD is pretty open about the way he thinks about floor spacing, running the offense and allowing players to be creative and take chances, even if those chances lead to mistakes or turnovers. |

This really struck me as I think it stands in stark contrast to Dunphy's approach, which was basically "Turn the ball over at your peril." Donahue was Dunphy's assistant for many years, and I give him a lot of credit for his open-mindedness and willingness to adopt a philosophy very different from that of his mentor.* *I'm not 100% sure that SD would refer to Dunphy as his "mentor" but I'm making an assumption here. |

I think a lot of SD's open-mindedness comes from an understanding of how the game has evolved since his early days in coaching, and how it continues to evolve. |
