Welcome to Bucknell! You will love it.

When is the last time that Bucknell had a 6'-8" Small Forward?

Isn’t the answer 2018? I believe we played Bruce at the three at times this past season.

Yes, Moore mostly played the three the past two years. Having said that, I expect Rhodes will mostly be a PF.

This has to be one of the biggest recruiting classes ever for Bucknell...maybe the Patriot League? 6’9, 6’8, 6’7, 6’3? Good luck matching up against that in a few years.

Like the name, and love his game after watching the You Tube video. What HS does he play for and what are his stats??

What are his strengths that stand out? Looks like Malachi has some serious hops.

looks like he played for a very small high school up til now. as a result he played center and dominated often against some lesser competition, was the class A junior player of the year. he transfered to a very large school for his senior year that has a bigger big, so he is expected to be playing on the perimeter more. would guess he showed well agaist bigger and better comp in aau season which is when most of his offers started coming in.

sounds like his perimeter game is a work in progress as one report from this spring praised him for staying within himself and posting up inside and letting the game come to him rather than forcing things and going beyond his strengths. he has, however, stated his objective is to develop a more complete game with the perimeter skills to be an outside shooting and driving threat. Perhaps that started to emerge in summer aau sessions as well, but have not found any commentary or video to support that. the shots in the highlight video look nice, but no idea what his outside shooting percentages or consistency look like. he is certainly very athletic and will provide additional rebounding and inside strength in any case.

thought the one graphic, which seems fairly certain to represent schools that offered, was intersting. thirteen offers, with CCSU being the only other school outside the southeast to get in on the competition, so a lot of schools we don't typically go up against. Wofford the only one we see fairly regularly although FGCU has been more frequent in recent years as we have offered more guys from the southeast.

Great kid from great family (met all on their recent visit). Saw him play in Sojka with the guys. Good size and strength. Not afraid to bang and is versatile around the basket. Rebounds and defends. Shot is solid (within a range)but not exceptional...will need lots of reps. Not a 3 ball guy...will play 4...good get

This description reminds me of Darren Mastropoalo:

"Rhodes is a big strong prospect that can guard forwards in matchups where he may give up an inch or two. Physicality and his paint presence will be his calling card early in his career."

Rhodes' offers were listed on the 2019 thread, but just wanted to report it here as well. He had offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Wofford, Winthrop, App State, Presbyterian, Jacksonville State, UNC Asheville, Western Carolina, Chattanooga, CCSU, and Florida International. Almost all of the offers were made since late June.

Videos I've seen seem more like Sestina. Good around basket, solid rebounder, knows when and where to take mid-range shot. A bit of a project with great upside. Could be perfect Patriot League talent.

Opens his season against Meadowcreek tonight. I hope to see a number of his games but plan to be home watching the Bison as this one happens.

HoopSeen currently ranks Malachi #13 in Georgia's 2019 class, a good ranking. As a point of comparison, Toomer was #13 in their rankings for the class of 2016.

The 12 ahead of him are committed to Auburn, OK State, MS State, Clemson, Auburn, USC, MS State, Xavier, Dayton, Charleston, Temple, and USF. Among the players behind him are commits to Cal, Northwestern, and UAB.

It will be interesting to see how he does this year, having moved up to somewhat tougher HS competition.

Could be perfect Bison recruit. Love that he has been "hidden" at smaller school and now appears committed to strong D1 career.
