Things have been quiet on the Cornell recruiting trail for 2019, but there may be hope. According to a tweet from Mark Miller of Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook, Nobal Days has narrowed his list of schools to Cornell, Tulane and Wisconsin. Days is a 6'9" power forward from Racine, Wisconsin. ESPN and Rivals list him as a three star recruit. Verbal Commits has offers from Norfolk State, Nebraska, Boston College, Northwestern, St. Louis, Kansas State, UNLV, Illinois, DePaul and Marquette. Rivals lists him as having an offer from Princeton. According to a 9/23/18 article in the Journal Times, Days went to Tulane on 9/13-9/16 and was scheduled to visit Cornell on 9/21-9/22. That weekend was Cornell's Homecoming, which is a really nice time to see the school since there are a lot of events that are well attended by students and alums. Unfortunately, it rained on Friday and the evening fireworks event was cancelled. The Journal Times article also mentioned that Days was considering official visits to Princeton and Wisconsin, but Days' father would only comment on the trips to Tulane and Cornell. https://journaltimes.com/sports/high-school/hi gh-s... Cornell gets its first recruit for the Fall of 2019. Jordan Jones is a 2 star 6' 5" SG from LA, who graduated from Oaks Christian High School in Southern California. This year, he is doing a prep year at Phillips Exeter Academy. He is not listed as having any other offers, at Verbal Commits. Last year, he was first team Division 2A All-CIF (California Interscholastic Federation). At one time, his body was ravaged by an autoimmune disorder. He was hobbled by juvenile arthritis. He shuttled in and out of hospitals. He kept getting injured and sick. His body atrophied. He became, in his own words, weak. The autoimmune disorder he suffered in eighth grade and his freshman year of high school was never officially diagnosed. And then, poof, it was gone. “It was really a two-year long mystery that kind of went away,†said Jones, an incoming senior at Oaks Christian High. “I don’t even know how to wrap my head around it. “I’m just glad it’s over. Now, I’m honestly just happy to play basketball.†Jones, 18, exudes joy on the court. The sweet-shooting lefthanded guard can be found smiling and cheering loudly for his teammates. Don't think Cornell needs to worry about Wisconsin in Nobal Days' recruitment. The Badgers have been out of this one for awhile. Days received a Wisconsin offer in September 2016, which was very in his recruitment, but hasn't show much improvement since. Its been said that Days called the Wisconsin coaching staff over the summer and tried to commit, but it wasn't accepted. Unless a prep school or late-bloomer jumps off the page in the spring, Wisconsin will push its remaining 2019 scholarship to 2020. This will give them three spots in a deep class and there's word that Lorne Bowman could be No. 1 on Friday. In the end, I think Tyler Wahl (4*, 247) is the only member of Wisconsin's 2019 class. |

In the end, Cornell didnt' have to worry about Wisconsin. However, they did have to worry about Tulane - where Days committed to this morning. |

Cornell picked up its 2nd commitment for 2019 earlier today - Marcus Filien, a 6' 7" or 6' 8" PF from Albany, NY. He played for the Albany Academy for Boys and is doing a prep year at Philips Academy Andover. https://twitter.com/M_Filien/status/10798 032559941... Jones was named NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year. I know nothing about any other player at that class, but it is hard to to better than POY. |

Big Red gets a commitment from Greg Dolan, 6’3†guard who, after being named the 2018 Buffalo area player of the year, earned 2nd-team honors as a PG at Northfield Mount Hermon. Dolan had offers from Buffalo, Albany, Dartmouth, Canisius Siena, Bryant and a few others. Doesn’t address Cornell’s desperate need for more size, but the Red has a couple of nice guards from the NE prep league heading to Ithaca. |

There is a also a need for a PG. Earl's offense isn't as dependent on a PG as others, but McBride is the only returnee with that particular set of skills. Interesting that Earl has gone exclusively prep school in this year's class (at least so far). |

NMH won a program-record 32 games. Dolan averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game for NHU. Prior to attending prep school for a year, Dolan shined for four seasons as a starter with Williamsville South, earning All-Western New York first team honors three times. He helped the program win two Section VI Class A championships and reach the 2016 state semifinals. He finished with 2,019 points in his career. - - Dolan had offers to go to several Division I schools, including University at Buffalo, Canisius, Albany and Dartmouth. I liked Kuhn, always thought he had potential to be a scorer but the staff appeared to not like aspects of his game. |

Agreed. I thought he would be a valuable shooter, but his PT started to diminish and Voss seemed to pass him in the rotation. |

Interesting point. According to this article, the Tulane AD has been in touch with Days & his family. His father is saying that his son liked Dunleavy & his staff, but he committed to the school, not just the coach. The official announcement is out: https://cornellbigred.com/news/2019/7/27/five-n ewc... The only name we haven't discussed is Chuks Uzoka, a 6-6(ish) forward from Fort Bend Christian Academy. I can't find anything about Uzoka other than what's in the press release. He is listed as headed to the AAP program, so he may not have a ton of time for basketball. The roster also includes a senior guard Noah Gear, but I can't tell if he transferred from somewhere or is a student who "walked-on." |

This class looks like the most athletic and accomplished that Earl has recruited. If only that were a bigger compliment. Based on the interest in him and his stats in HS and at NMH, Dolan looks like a safe bet to be, at least, a decent Ivy PG. Jones's stat lines for the last two years are impressive and he was the NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year. The last three players to win that award are Cormac Ryan, Jordan Burns, and Miye Oni. If Jordan plays anywhere on that spectrum, he'll make an impact at Cornell. Patel is a year away, but he's shown he can play D1 ball. Not sure what to expect from Filien. Probably not enough to turn Cornell into a title contender, but it should be Earl's best recruiting class. And if it's not, the next couple years will be brutal. |
