A 74-71 W. Smith on crutches, but possibly better defense and more even scoring in his absence. Ellis with 13 is coming on, Killingsworth with 14 takes and makes his shots, and we seem to be playing more together as a team. It is remotely possible that rumors of our doom may be premature. |

I wa genuinely concerned that we would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as we have done on multiple occasions in the Engles regime. And while we did not handle the inbounds trap very well, at least Engles seemed to be much more proactive in calling TOS and coaching up the team. As much as I admire Smith’s game, one significant problem in his game is that he tries to drive in the last two minutes of close games and usually gets stuffed because what he does is so predictable. I thought that the three bigs played reasonably well, and that Tape could have had another 6 or 8 points if he could finish better from the low post. Maka Ellis looks like he can be an outstanding player with a nice touch but will need to bulk up a little to play better defense. Killingsworth probably had his best game. Stef was in early fouls trouble, which was a problem for us. Adlesh played his usual steady game. CJ Davis, had a few rocky moments handling the ball but he is still shaking off the rust and is a strong defender. |
