This was brutal to watch. Dartmouth led by 15 in the first half, despite poor shooting. With Dartmouth playing an odd assortment of reserves, Bryant cut it to 8 at half time, then went on a 12-0 run to start the second, as Dartmouth could not stop Bryant's 6'5" "center" (he scored 24 second half points). Yet again, perimeter defense was MIA. Credit James Foye for singlehandedly keeping Dartmouth in it till the end. They actually led by five with two minutes to go, but let it slip away. Worst loss of the season, and they'll have to wear it for a while. |

There's no way to spin it - that was a bad loss. Coming into a game against the #340 team in the country with 4 straights wins and 5 of its last 6, this should have been a game Dartmouth put away early. Looking at the stats, hitting 10 threes and outrebounding Bryant by 7 should have translated to a win. However, they went 10-21 (47%) from two, while Bryant went 19-35 (54%). Also, Bryant outscored Dartmouth 32-16 in the paint. While there have been a lot of positives for Dartmouth, so far, the 2 point (offense & defense) and FT shooting are still works in progress. |

I have to correct my note about the FT shooting. Most of the rotation is doing a good job at the line. Knight and Emery are the biggest concerns, with Knight shooting 55% and Emery shooting 33%. |

Tough loss. However, my perspective on the team as a fan of another Ivy School is a little more positive. It may just be that my expectations were lower than your’s, but I think Dartmouth is the biggest surprise of a very good non-conference season for the league. I didn’t see them being anywhere close to the 218 KP rating they have. While the schedule has been easy, the last few Dartmouth teams weren’t winning as many games against similar schedules. Keep in mind that it takes time — you don’t just go from a 300 ranked team to competed for the league in one year. The trend seems to be upward now. |

SomeGuy: You really do believe, or is it about the color GREEN & that you're so captivated by the holiday spirit? You wrote that recent Dartmouth teams didn't win similar non- conference games as the current Green team has; but recent Dartmouth teams couldn't find a D-1 punching bag willing to play them TWICE in early December, either. While it's true they've already exceeded their win total of last season, which is nice, you still lack sufficient information to predict any kind of enduring upward trajectory. IMHO, Dartmouth will be hard pressed to equal their 3 win, 2017-18 conference record, in this season's Ivy League. |

Well, the schedule rates about the same as 2017. It is easier than last year, but not by a lot. Having more wins in only half a season is a marked improvement. I think the strategy of building confidence first is a good one. The metrics say Dartmouth has outplayed Cornell and Columbia thus far regardless of opponent. They also appear to be in shouting distance of Princeton and Brown, and would likely be a home favorite against all four if the season started today. It’s all close enough that 3 wins could happen, but I would guess that the KP projection would be 5 now, and a 6th place finish. |

It was a pretty disappointing loss heading in to the holiday break. It's pretty hard to fathom how we lost that game. We were in a dog fight with Bryant (pun intended), when it ships have been a out right win for the Green. Considering we had a lot of time to prepare for this game I'm surprised we didn't have any adjustments to make to change the outcome. Considering we came back to beat Albany this loss is confounding.

Why be confounded? Let SomeGuy and KP metrics guide you through the season. You don't need to watch a single second of play- they'll gladly explain away everything that happened. In fact, Dartmouth could have taken a win yesterday on SomeGuy's say so, and saved themselves a trip to Rhode Island. ... Merry Christmas to all! |

“the Dartmouth bench scored a season-low two points“. Got to get more from from the second string, especially during league play. We got away from playing deeper into our bench earlier in the season, we’re not going to be prepared for league if we cant go deep. IJS
