Here we go!

With games at home against Y, B, C & C over 9 days it's important to win at least 3 of them. Means at least a split this weekend. Seth's injury and Bryce's ongoing recovery (plus the loss at Dartmouth) is causing me to focus on the goal of qualifying for the tournament. Sweep this weekend and we can start talking differently.

Yale and Brown present difficult lineup matchups. Atkinson and DeWolf play as true 5's while Bruner and Cho are long, strong and athletic 4's. This Harvard squad doesn't really have such a 4 and will likely use Baker and Djuricic in that role. The continued absence of Seth compounds this issue. The value of Kyle Casey and Steve Mondou-Misi is apparent.

Hopefully, the Crimson can shoot >40% from outside and play with the energy that they displayed over the last 10 minutes against Dartmouth. Chris Lewis must stay out of foul trouble.

Nice piece, HDG! If your team gets 3 out of 4, then perhaps even Mr. Amaker's harshest critics will need to concede that he's doing a little something positive out there. Good luck!

Thanks. Hoping your Lion’s inflict some damage on the P’s in NYC!

You're actually one for damage control, HDG. And yesterday, you wrote about withdrawals- can't accept any withdrawals from you, either; unless of course you have a moment to withdraw 5k from your savings, for immediate deposit into my checking (#0356257; care of the city that never sleeps) before 12Noon today- thanks!

Did I? I don’t recall writing about withdrawals yesterday.

I’m investing in Seth and Bryce’s PT

HDG: The evidence is on that Coase/Ivy League thread; and you still have time to make that deposit!

Big win. Bassey, as usual, did a great job making life hard for Oni, and nobody else on Yale could consistently score.

Baker's defense and shooting were difference-makers for us, and got a big contribution from Djuricic off the bench.

The only real negative all night was that Aiken had a rough night. He didn't see the court again after missing back to back open threes at the start of the second half. Hopefully just a hiccup as he works his way back into shape.

Aiken left with about 15 minutes to go. Went to locker room and came outside, standing by locker room with about 8 to go with towel around his neck. Never returned to bench, but was in TO huddle. Did see him rubbing his knee, but it may have been nothing.

Towns still in the wrong kind of suit.

As for the game, DEFENSE. Great job by Bassey on Oni. And Kirkwood did ok on the few possessions he was defending Oni. Yale’s bad 3 point shooting had more to do with the wrong guys shooting. Bruner’s 5 misses were way off.

Major contributions from Baker and Djuricic. Djuricic showed the high energy he showed last year. Contribution from him makes this a MUCH different team. Can’t count on Baker shooting as well as he did tonight, but then again Kirkood had a rough shooting night.. On the other hand, he contributed in other ways and was still diving on the floor in the final minute. He is going to be a star. Baker also did lots of other good things.

Nice observations 84. Glad to be back at a rockin Lavietes.

Crimson defense won this one. Intensity and defense led to some sloppy play. Bassey played his usual tough defense but tandem of Lewis and Baker caused many misses and had 4 blocks.

Juzang and Baker shot well. Chris Lewis effective down low but bad TO’s on entry passes to Chris and some bad passses by Chris once doubled cause concern.

Yale had some success with zone and by pressing when Bryce went to the bench in the second half.

Both teams will improve and - hopefully - meet two more times at Payne Whitney

Let’s hope (a) Bryce is ok to go vs Brown and (b) Desmond Cambridge does not go off and find his stroke tomorrow night.

The first half was the best half of basketball we have played all season. And the defense kept the lead comfortable the rest of the game.

I too noticed Aiken heading to the locker room and not coming back until there were 3 or 4 minutes left.
