ESPN has it even and Brown has a 59% chance of winning. Given Mike James' win percentage for the 2 weekend games for Penn at .66, we have a better chance of splitting than losing 2, but not much better.

WE HAVE TO WIN TONIGHT. If we don't, I officially predict we will not make the playoff.

On the flip side, if Brown loses this game, it'll feel like groundhog day - except this is legitimately a much better Brown team than the recent past ones that looked like they could break through for fourth but went on insane skids down the stretch.

Groundhog day was last Saturday; and UPenn found itself on the favorable side of that event, winning in NYC over the hapless Jim Engles. For tonight, a somewhat different narrative will be in operation.

Audio finally seems to have caught up. I like the fact that we've gotten off to a good start, scoring points off turnovers. We need to keep pushing and not let Brown get back into it.

Wang hits a three from the top of the circle. Let's hope he's relocated the range.

Women cranked up defense to 11, and Sterba knocked down 4 or 5 threes in about 2 minutes late in the 2nd, and the rout is on. 54-26 under 5 in the 3rd. Princeton losing to Yale late; Harvard got 2 in the 1st and trails Columbia by 15 at half.

Everything Brown is getting offensively is off isolation. Very little ball movement or player movement. Contrast that with how we space the floor and keep things moving to create open shots.

I can see an argument that Harvard winning was better for Penn. I rooted for Columbia knowing that it was possibly not in our best interest. Columbia's loss and our victory allowed us to separate ourselves from the other three last place teams. If Harvard has enough left to beat Cornell and we beat Yale, we're tied for fourth place. That's a fact.

Oh, and I'm not high.

The Ivy race is like a race with staggered lanes. We are 2-3 but have 6 of our last 8 at the Palestra. Harvard has 6 of their last 8 on the road. I am not worried about the last place teams. If we are within 1 game of Harvard, we essentially are tied with them. I also would much rather not play Yale in the first round at Yale. The win yesterday over Brown would have given us an excellent chance of being within a game of first place had Harvard lost. You can't worry about Columbia, and, as all the Princeton posters say, the only thing that really matters is finishing first. Yes, everything changed in my mind with a start to finish whipping of Brown. No reason we can't do that tomorrow, but even if we don't, we should be a favorite in all but one game after that. You want one of the clear top 4 to lose to a team that won't be in the playoff---not worry about Columbia making an extremely improbable run to the playoff.

I stand by the 9-5 prediction (looking a lot better today) that I made after the home PU game. The rest will take care of itself.

I don’t think anyone in the league except Yale can beat Penn when they shoot like they did last night. The only reason Yale fares better is Penn (as we saw last night late) is vulnerable off the defensive boards and gives up too many second chance points. Max is the key, especially of AJ is in foul trouble. Pay careful attention to how he does tonight.

On another note, Aiken’s crazy 3 was #1 on the SC top 10 this morning. What an epic game. Columbia continues to surprise without Smith. Oh, and did you see what Morgan did last night. Kind of jumps off the box score.

Why mention Smith? These kids may be losing, but they're discovering so much about their potential; a possibility that may not have been available to them with a ball and shot dominant player like Smith still there.

Officials did a respectable job overall. We had the one guy who has given us problems in the past and he did call some questionable fouls on both sides, particularly the 5th on AJ.

I was quite glad to see the officials did not award any flops last night. I saw at least 5 times players on both teams tried to get an offensive foul by flopping and the officials held the whistle. The best one was AJ’s dunk on top of the Brown player who flopped.

I agree, but don't read too much into what I am saying. I think many of us wrote off the Lions entirely when Smith went down. It's a credit to them and their coaches that the other guards have stepped up their game. We could say the same thing about Betley/Washington.
