A tweet from Bison Road Warrior:

"Career high! After last week’s trip to Lafayette and Loyola, I’ve traveled 24,027 miles this season with @Bucknell_MBB — more to come!"

One of the most impressive lines:
“Bucknell held at least a share of first place in the Patriot League on Feb. 1 for the fifth straight year and ninth time in the last 10 years.”

I imagine this is something few teams can say across the country. Also, the team has a reasonable chance to finish with a better record than last year’s team...that is crazy given the losses in personnel. Still a lot of basketball to play and given the inconsistent shooting, things can go either way, but Nathan Davis and staff have to be doing something right.

The Diamond Head Classic was a major mileage boost.

Kansas and Bucknell are the only two programs to have outright regular season championships in 7 out of the last 8 seasons. The Jayhawks are currently tied for fourth in the Big 12.

Kansas btw has won or tied for their regular season championship for 14 straight years. However three times, including 2013, they only tied, so they have only 7 out of 8 outright championships, as you say. They are currently two games back in the loss column.

Cannot stand the arrogance or poor sportsmanship of the Bucknell coaching staff to not shake hands with opposing starters. Meanwhile, virtually every other team has a head coach or assistant shake hands with Bison players during introductions. Boaton’s Coach Jones shook hands and hugged every Bucknell starter. They can do as they please, just something I do not appreciate.

This 13-2 stretch since the 11:00 mark looks as awful as it sounds.

Close out the last 11:00 on the wrong side of an ugly 26-9 run.

How many first halves in a row has Sestina gotten 2 fouls? Feels like a lot.

I’m so tired of sestina being stupid with his fouls. That offensive foul was so unnecessary. He had an open jumpshot. Changed the entire half. Gave BU hope. If we stay up double digits for the half this becomes an easy game. Now we’re in a dogfight.

Heh, I was having the same thought. He's positively giddy today. We sure this game isn't being played at some neutral site outside Denver?

Don't get me started on him.

Sestina's +/- should be great this game. He was the difference.

25 points in 25 minutes. I guess so. Kimbal’s 18 in the 2nd half didn’t hurt.

I usually find Birdsong to be somewhat endearing, but today, he was grating to put it lightly. The "you are my hero" thing makes me want to throw up every time that I hear it. Doug, please S-T-O-P!

As for Sestina, he is so talented that when he is in the game, the Bison are a different team. Unfortunately, STUPID fouls are the norm not the exception.

It was obviously good to get the win but I come away with some concerns. First and foremost, Jimmy isn’t even close to being right. He is constantly in pain and can’t shoot. He doesn’t even think about looking to shoot. That may eventually be a liability.

Next, we just struggle to find production when Sestina and Kimbal aren’t scoring. The end of the first half was without Sestina and Kimbal on the bench for some reason. And they gave the lead back. When Kimbal came back in the lack of offensive creativity had taken over.

And lastly...we really need Toomer 1) make his free throws 2) make more of an overall impact. I feel like he disappears too much.

I know I know, we’ve become spoiled and we should happy we are in first in a “rebuilding” year. Look we’re here now with the winning the league and going to the tourney in our sights again. I wish they’d clean it up at times.

What was with his high pitched squealy voice saying “boys and Girls” and stuff? Sometimes Doug is too much. I’d like to make Sportscenter for hoops not Birdsong being goofy

Yes usually I give Doug a pass cause he’s Doug and he is all about Bison athletics. But to say he’s good at his basketball radio job is not accurate, in my opinion. He’s way too over the top (I believe in purpose) and he does not accurately describe the action. He uses the same old callls that suggest fouls are happening on every play, both ways: “Jones pushes off...” or “Thomas reaches in..” or “Brown goes over the back...” as he describes live action. I just cannot trust what he says in terms of fouls. He goes way overboard with his stats...”shooting 74.6% from the line which is much higher than their normal 72.6%.” Finally he is a terrible interviewer. His questions are way too wordy and long because he has to give his feelings during the question. Plus he always asks a question and finished it by asking the interviewee to agree with him: “The Bison really made an effort to cover Jones, didn’t they?” Typically, Davis or whomever he is interviewing will not agree with him. I’d think someone who has been doing it forever would be better.

I was on the road and I listened to Doug and enjoyed his sportscasting and his exuberance. Yes, he's over the top a little but its all in his youthful enthusiasm. Behind BisonRoadWarrior, he might be Bucknell's number two fan. I thought his f-o-u-l -e-d diatribe was extreme and his adoration of Kimbal a little fanboyish and was disappointed when he thought we were only up by two when it was four near the end of the game-he should know better. Also, when Bruce Moore fouled he accused the other player of flopping but the refs were fishing for a flagrant which made me question the action. But he's a true fan of the Bison that is clear. Furthermore he started the game spot on but deteriorated near the end. Its hard to maintain that level of youthful enthusiasm at an older age but he has done it.

Here's a song for Doug. You are doing great!

They are still better with Sotos than without. His ball handling and passing are tough to replace. It also takes the pressure off Kimbal to be both point guard and scorer.

I’m not arguing they aren’t better with him in there, but I think the more film of him not even attempting a jump shot will change defensive strategies. Everyone will sag off him and double down on someone like Nate. I agree, we need him for the Lehigh game. But maybe after that he sits for a week or so to try to continue and rehab and strengthen his shoulder.

Anyone aware of any replay sites? Most of the other teams I follow have links to sites that offer replays. My internet was down for this game and would love to see the Bison in action.

Stadium has it archived: https://watchstadium.com/network/patriot-leagu e-ne...
But you need to listen to Doug's play-by-play unless you mute it. I like Doug, but he could really benefit from a color commentator to keep him in check.
