Finally an update. Looks like we get Florida Gulf Coast at home on 11/11. They are no longer Enfield's Dunk City and finished 5 spots better than Dartmouth in KenPom rankings, but it's nice to get some new teams in Hanover.

It again sounds like folks on this board are not pleased with the state of Dartmouth Men's Basketball.

And it looks like we couldn't convince the other Slajchert to come play with his brother. I see he committed to Penn. I was theorizing we played the elder Slajchert as much as we did despite stats to sell the younger brother to commit to Green.

The SOS rating is going to be very low with this schedule as constructed. League league schedule is much higher. Based on last year's KenPom rankings.

I'll reserve final judgement untill the new KP ratings come out. As it stands, we're looking worse of than last year where we won nonconference games and only two league games. I believe I said it last year that we need to play stronger SOS to prepare for league. Then we went on to win two league games. Or schedule is super regional. And what is the River Hawk Invitational, just wondering?

The River Hawk Classic is a tournament hosted by UMass-Lowell, a team that is in its seventh year competing at the Division 1 level.

This schedule lacks any oomph. We can't even get a low-level Big Ten team on it? A Pac 10 team? It makes our program feel small—maybe as small as it is right now...

Couldn't we at least play Cameron Krystowiak's dad's University of Utah team?

Football had precisely the opposite experience as your suggestion.

In the 2000s, we had the league's toughest OOC scheduled. We fared poorly in league play.

In the current decade, we have one of the easiest OOC schedules. We are either first or second in league wins.

That would be quite the feat, given that the Pac 10 hasn't existed since 2011.

Don't think you can compare football and hoops on this point.

Part of the problem with playing a tough Out of Conference schedule in football is that your players get beat up. When the league season rolls around you're often missing key pieces, or have guys playing at less than their best.

Better competition doesn't really up the risk of injury in basketball.

I thought we'd get a game at Utah at least too. In terms of feeling small, I looked at our program rating on KenPom.com and was crest fallen at how poorly we rate. I believe we were 307 out of 353. That placed us at the bottom of the IVY with the closest school being Brown at 269. So there is basis for your feeling. We operate like a low rated D1 despite being in a highly competitive solidly mid major conference. Honestly I'm kind of shocked the league office hasn't told us to raise our program profile, considering the rest of the league is moving forward.

We will agree to disagree on this.

That said, I fully acknowledge that if McLaughlin doesn't get more wins in 2019-20, it might be time to acknowledge that he isn't the guy to lead us back to the upper division in league competition. It will be a very important season for him.
