Per Jeff Goodman: Not quite at the level of the James Wiseman news, but here at Harvard-Northeastern and Tommy Amaker’s top two players out: Seth Towns still out (knee) and Bryce Aiken (calf). Aiken is day-to-day while Towns is completely uncertain. |

All Crimson have tonight is Chris Lewis, and he’s being triple teamed. 2-12 from 3 won’t help. Roland is really good. 19 points in first half on 7-9 shooting |

Is there somewhere to watch this one? Real bummer on the injuries and especially hope this isn’t going to be one of those less than ideal out of conference records with questionable lineups and then all of the sudden figured out in Ivys! Good luck on recoveries. |

Well, it wouldn't be the start of the year if we weren't missing Towns and Aiken, and suffering through mystery lineups while the game is getting out of hand. Just too many defensive breakdowns. Credit to Roland for making some unguardable stepback threes and left-handed floaters in the lane, but there were too many other times where we gave him too much space or let him get switched onto a big. Northeastern was on fire as a team that first half — 8 of 13 on threes — but a lot of those were wide open off of either offensive rebounds or drive-and-kicks. Lewis and Kirkwood got us back in the game with their offense, and we finally started making some of our own threes. We had our chances there at the end. A couple of really quick whistles on our traps there in the last minute might have taken a turnover or two away that could have gotten us back in the game. But those are kind of things you don't have to worry about when you don't dig yourself a 20 point hole. We showed some toughness getting back in the game after that utter disaster of a first half, took better care of the ball in the second half, and played (a little) bit better defense too. But man, it'd be nice to not be wondering when our best players will be back. |

Roland every bit as good as Aiken. What a shame they weren't out there head-to-head. Northeastern will have another good year, maybe back-to-back NCAA appearances. |

Well, for those doubting the 2016 class will ever get a clean run at it, at least Justice Ajogbor looks like an absolute monster against other high-D1 recruits for the Christ School. Followed up a 20 reb double-double with a 25/11 against a very, very good Greensboro Day squad. I'll say it again - I think next year's team would beat this year's team without Bryce and Seth. |
