Due to the snow in upstate New York, we are pushing our

*Penn at Columbia is now SATURDAY (2/7) at 2 p.m.
*Penn at Cornell is now SUNDAY (2/8) at 2 p.m.

Penn hadn't headed up to NY yet?

I'm sure the issue was with Princeton heading to Ithaca so who knows where they are but I have to think Penn had time to turn around. At least we have some familiarity with Saturday games at 2.

really dumb decision
Mess up everyone s plans for game fri night when its warm and raining in nyc. Its a big alumni event
My class has a well attended dinner every year
The philly cornell trip via the western route is easier and safer than the nyc cornell trip, having done both many times when my daughter was athlete at colgate
They could have played and come back to philly

Cant wait till the ivy tournament goes there...
Btw i have no dog in this fight, i now get to watch at breakast from hawaii vs missing golf time

Gotta love your outrage....followed by the factoid that you are sitting in Hawaii.

Has anyone considered moving the Tournament to Hawaii? Coaches and players would go for it! Isn't that how we got into this mess in the first place?

How about alternate sites?
Hawaii and the Palestra rotating.

Columbia game is still on Shabbat. Per my son-in-law, kiddish refers to post-game discussion of the game.

The postponement was a cruel joke. My wife and I had already left for Columbia and leaned of the postponement when we arrived at Levien. To say that I was urinated is an understatement.

I have been watching Ivy League basketball for 53 years and don’t recall any weather related postponements. I’ve gone to both road games and palestra games in blizzard conditions. There was absolutely no reason to postpone the Penn-Columbia game - it could have been played and Penn-Cornell could have been played Sunday.

BTW, the weather at Cornell was forecast a few days ago. The wimps from NJ could have left earlier - that’s what I do when there is a bad weather forecast. In my view, just an embarrassment.

Princeton has been in Ithaca since Thursday evening. The postponement has nothing to do with their arrival. Cornell’s campus was closed

Thanks for that info. I’ve never heard of a closed campus. We’ve had blizzards in Philadelphia too - actually, Cornell should be more prepared for such events given their location.

Time's have changed--organizations tend to be afraid of backlash and lawsuits if anything happens to folks in winter conditions. School districts are much more likely to close schools now than when I was a kid. Or even when my kids were younger.

Are you able to stay for the game today? Root the Quakers to victory.

Yeah... it is pretty weak that league also postponed Penn @ Columbia, but not much else you can say there.

Here’s to hoping our Penn guys are ready to go today!

I don't think other coaches/programs would think it's fair for Penn/Cornell to get an extra day to prepare for a game when they all have to play these back to back. It seems most coaches would object to that if it can be avoided as it is a perceived advantage.

Campuses close because it’s unsafe for staff to drive/travel.

No staff, no classes, meals, security, etc

I went to grad school in Hanover. When I was there the College NEVER closed for weather, no matter how ugly. I doubt that has changed.

Just saying.

FYI, Harvard closed for 4 days during The Blizzard of 1978. I was there.

This is hazy, but I think I recall that when Penn closed for a day in 1978 they announced it was the closure since the civil war.

Ah, but SNY is showing it right now after Shabbat is over.

Woo hoo!
