Best news the program has had in years.

Assuming he is healthy, he will slot in perfectly for James Foye in the starting lineup. And may even be an upgrade.

With Barry and two excellent incoming freshman, Dartmouth is a strong contender for a top-tier finish and its first ever Ivy tournament.

This news may help explain why Ary-Turner decided to transfer.

For those wondering how that's possible...Barry is going to take this Spring term off (instead of taking online classes), and therefore won't graduate till next year.

I think you're right on all counts!

Now here's hoping that things return to normal and we have a season by then!!!

Great News!
Looks like a strong starting core with Barry, Knight, Rai, Samuels, Slajhert and Garrison. Losing 4 participants, so interesting to see what depth looks like. I'm not familiar with this past season's deep bench and recruits.

Next season could be fun for the Big Green! Need to just add 2 or 3 wins to the 5 in just completed season. Should be achievable.

Great news for Dartmouth and the league, in general.

I see your news that Barry is going to take the trimester off and save it for the next academic year.

Can you please explain how he will be able to play an entire season, when he will only be skipping one trimester this season. Would he have to sit out the first part of the year and only play during the winter session?

Thanks.

The article answers RBG's question.

Barry needs to take four more classes. He plans to spread them out over the fall and winter terms. So he will still be in school, and not graduated, through the 20-21 season.

Interesting.

Is splitting one semester's worth of classes into two something that occurs routinely at Dartmouth?

Unless there is a financial issue, it would seem a bit unfair to allow him to do this just so he can play two semesters worth of basketball.

Students typically take three classes a term. So he'd still be short one.

It is not uncommon to take two (where a student has credits, for example, from high school).

It is hard to imagine someone paying full freight tuition/room/board to take just one class.

No inside information here, but I'd bet he takes two+two and perhaps audits another each term.

Very refreshing to see such a loyal and unselfish decision by Brendan Barry. Unlike others who left before 4 years, he is staying for 5! I don't blame the others for pursuing their separate paths, but I am impressed by Barry's decision especially in this day and age.

Unless he is on full financial aid, he will be paying for additional schooling, foregoing a scholarship for a year of grad school and the chance to experience playing big time basketball.

Dartmouth will be good next year with Barry back, and must have a strong chance to crack the top 4! Coach McLaughlin and Dartmouth must be commended for holding on to Barry. Barry deserves to be offered a great job by a Dartmouth alumnus after he graduates or an assistant coaching position by Coach McLaughlin!

Barry can make a good team very good, certainly a contender for the Ivy tournament.
