Latimer has entered the transfer portal.

Time to fire ND? The staff has failed to land any transfers to replace Turner, Ellis, and now Latimer. Probably they will sign another player who just graduated from HS but had no scholarship offers.

That is very sad to read! I find it incredibly hard to stay upbeat for the bison. I wish John Griffin would enter the coaches transfer portal and come to Bucknell!

It’s nice to finally see everyone coming around that it’s time to terminate Davis. How do we accomplish it? Should I write and old fashion letter to the administration?

I'm going to show my ignorance here. What happens if Turner and Latimer don't sign with another school?

They can return if the program wants them to assuming there are still available scholarships. It certainly seems there will be.

They'd stay now with a coaching change.

Possibly, but it's no longer their choice.

Yes, always good to take back kids that are dissatisfied.

Latimer has committed to Bryant, effective second semester. They will seek a waiver from the NCAA to allow him to play once he transfers in, as opposed to having to sit out a year. Theoretically he could play 2 1/2 more seasons if he gets the right NCAA waivers.

Can't blame him when he only would have had one year to play here.

Easy there. The negative comment police are everywhere Winston. Negative comments keep people from posting and engaging in this forum. It’s not the fact football and men’s basketball are in steep decline. That has nothing to do with it. It’s commenting about it negatively.

Haven’t you seen all the people returning to post since no one has been negative the last few weeks?

Whoa! That was quite a leap. The only negative comment I have is to echo B137 regarding the administration's absurd policy preventing athletes from using their 5th year of eligibility.

Would Latimer (and Ellis) have stayed if they had two more seasons? I don't know, but it had to weigh into their decision.

I was being sarcastic JK. The larger issue for Bucknell is one that threatens the entire Patriot League. The PL can either change policy and take advantage of the portal or being destroyed by it. This may become akin to all the years the PL was non-scholarship and then slowly put itself on a level playing field without threatening academic rigor.

JK, I spoke with a D1 athlete who is a friend of our family, and he is getting 6 full seasons of football at another school. He will graduate with a master's degree completely for free. That would certainly motivate me to transfer.
New season, new team, new dream . . .

Bucknell isn't for everyone. Let's be sad for the transfers for a moment, then wish them the best. May they never step on the campus again. Then, get a few coaches with brains in their heads that can find the quality players who want to be here. There is a disconnect and student athletes that should be here aren't and that is not good for the school and students. This basketball program needs to be taken out to the woodshed, given a good whooping, and then re-directed back to its winning ways.
