Good to know that the pipeline from the "DMV" is still flowing north to Princeton NJ. She is a rising senior at Georgetown Visitation ("Visi"), a perennial local power in Girls basketball and the alma mater of Ellie Mitchell. Also plays AAU ball for the Fairfax Stars, whose website lists her at 6'1" (r/t 5'11").
In 2021-22 season as a junior she was second team All Met (WaPo's end of year top player rankings). Former first team All Met players have included Bella Alarie, Abby Meyers, Ellie Mitchell, Chet Nweke and Parker Hill.
Looks like a nice addition to the team for 2023.

I'm sure she is a fine player but I don't see her on the WaPo list:

Maybe she was all- conference?

My post related to Fadima Tall, the Visitation senior, who was Second Team All-Met for 2021-22.

In reviewing that list, I noticed that Kendall Dudley (at Sidwell, and Sidwell coach Tamika Dudley's daughter) was only Third Team All Met for 2021-22. That's surprising, since she is the #4 recruit on ESPN's Super 60 of 2024 graduates, and the #1 recruit for 2024 on Blue Star Basketball. It'll be interesting to see what the All-Met team will be for 2022-23, and how many of the Sidwell players will be on it.

Also had offers from Cal, UNC and Michigan and I saw on one chat board (FWIW) that she is considered to be an even better HS player than Chen.

Another big-time recruit for Coach Berube!

Ok, I see now.

To your other point, Sidwell has become a real girls power almost overnight. Caught some of us casual observers by surprise. It's always had a few low-key good boys, but the girls are outclassing everyone.

With Chea it looks like Princeton has five recruits for the 23 class ... certainly could add one more - as there are currently no bigs in this class.

On your post that has a link to Chea's Instagram, the last two pictures show the five known commits together at Jadwin along with one additional girl, Mary Ashley Groot, a 6'-2" forward who was the NY State Class C POY. I've found nothing saying she committed to Princeton but why would she be in a photo with the other five, one of which that includes the coaches, if she's not intending to come to Princeton. Anyone know anything about this? The timeline is four days ago.

Not that ESPN is the best relative evaluator of talent - as a lot is based on did you play in the correct AAU tournaments to be evaluated for ESPN – so #50 to #250 may not be very much different in talent … but so far 2023 is the first class in a long time where no Ivy has a top 100 ranked ESPN player – usually there are two or three.

I agree that ESPN tends to favor kids from certain schools and clubs on its Top 100, Top 60 lists, based not always on objective criteria, but on how tied in they are to ESPN's assets. Anyway, they have a new Top 100 for the girls' 2023 class, and Fadima Tall, Princeton recruit, comes in a #64. BTW, Mary Ashley Groot, who committed to Purdue, fell to #97:

Another recruit for Carla: Mari Bickley, 5'11" SG from Laurel School in Shaker Heights Ohio

https://twitter.com/mari_bickley?lang=en

According to this article she has several high major offers, including South Carolina and North Carolina:

https://www.slamonline.com/the-magazine/mari-bic kl...

She could be the best of the 2023 bunch.

It was said last year and may apply even more so this year. If you're going to get the Tigers, you better do it this year, because between this year's freshmen and what's coming next year, compared to what everyone else is bringing in, the future looks pretty bleak for the rest of the league. Princeton's not coming back to the pack any time soon.

If you're a top player and academically capable, unless you wind up at Stanford or Notre Dame or maybe UNC or UCLA, it is hard to beat the value proposition Princeton offers. Learn from NCAA Champion Carla Berube, play for a perennial power alongside incredible people, get an amazing education, make invaluable connections, and set yourself for the next 40 years.

Certainly for Columbia, they have to do it this year, or they're going to have to wait for quite a while. After this year, Griffith loses a senior class with Davis, Patrick, Hannah Pratt, Sienna Durr, Carly Rivera and a couple others. The roster shows only 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen ("first years"), so unless she recruits a large group to come in next year, she's going to have a small team, with only Hsu and Henderson at the level to compete with Princeton's contingent, which will return Mitchell, Chen and Nweke for another year.

They'll need more than just a large group. It will have to be A+ quality also because if they can't beat Princeton with Davis, Patrick, etc., how are they going to beat the Tigers without them? Same goes for Penn losing Padilla and Harvard with Forbes and McCarthy gone after this year. As with the last two years, the Tigers will lose some quality players again after this year but what returns and what's waiting in the wings, at this point at least, is far superior to what everyone else has.

Video clips are very impressive, as is her habitus. Should be able to hold her own in the paint against some of the top 25 teams.

I have heard nothing about any Princeton interest in Abigail Wright--Ethan's sister and Ellen DeVoe's daughter.

One recruiting site puts her #3 in New England, with Margo Mattes at #5.

Any sense if there is a potential match here, and if not, why not? You'd think that the combination of her skill set and Princeton's academics, Top 25 status, marquee coach and legacy ties might be persuasive.

She has offers from Harvard, Columbia, Penn, Cornell and several other schools but no P5 offers and nothing (yet at least) from her parents’ alma maters (Princeton and Yale).

Is it clear that the lack of interest is on Princeton’s side? Without talking to the Wrights, there’s no way of knowing what the family discussions have been on this. The recruiting site you refer to shows that Columbia, Cornell, Harvard and Penn have shown interest to some degree, but Princeton is not on her list. That leads me to believe that she might be the one who lacks interest. There are plenty of Ivy League examples where a sibling doesn’t follow an elder to the same place: Peter and Conner Boehm, Louis and Lola Lesmond, the Emsbo twins. And even when kid follows a mother who was a star player to her school, there’s no guarantee he’ll stay, as in Evan Boudreaux leaving Dartmouth after a year or two.

The main worry is that she’ll go to one of the other Ivies, become a star and come back to haunt us. At least Duke didn’t have to deal with Bella Alarie at UNC, NC State or Georgia Tech.

Riley Weiss has committed to Columbia. I believe Princeton had made her an offer. Big scorer from LI who was a gold medalist in the U-18 tourney at the Maccabiah games this summer.

Looks like a great get for Megan Griffith. The caliber of player coming into the league keeps going up.

In today's Washington Post, Fadima Tall (Georgetown Visitation) joins the long (and getting longer) line of WaPo First Team All Met honorees to come to Princeton:

"The versatile Princeton-bound forward averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds while leading her team to an independent School League title over vaunted Sidwell Friends."

Even though she has been listed at 5'11", from the WaPo photo, she's at least 6'0", which is a pleasant surprise.

I attended the Sidwell game before a packed house at Holton-Arms, which included Justice Kavanaugh and Brenda Frese, among others. A great win, 60-57.

The Princeton class of 27 recruits are shown in the link. The heights I got from a quick google search, which differ slightly from some of the heights shown in this thread, in order of listing in the article are: 5-8, 5-10, 5-7, 6-0, 5-10 and 5-11. Fadima Tall is listed by ESPN as their 64th highest rated recruit.
