A potentially massive issue for Ivy athletes and NIL is that since NIL is considered income the athletes are taxed on it, which means it would also have to be considered in their financial aid application. So let's say Player X gets a NIL deal from Wawa of New Jersey and it's worth $100k. A good portion of that could potentially just get scooped up by an adjusted tuition bill. Of course this is not an issue for the non-Ivy athletes since they're on full scholarships anyway and financial aid is a moot point. Way to go Ivy League... |

wow. i didnt know this. so far we have no basketball collectives just a few player accounts. but the individuals need substantially more just to break even. it is safe to say our ceiling has been set by this years talent league wide. you can raise the team floors but we will likely never have better top end players of nil rolls on in its current form. |

Well...we anticipated the wapo article which details our reality. We have some better momo now at Yale on the topic. But it will take a key player loss or two to make a meaningful difference and we aren't going to have 5mm per annum anyway. Enjoy this ILT bc it's the top shelf talent ceiling for now is my guess. And what momo we have is nullified by the tax issue |

James Jones response to an outstanding question about the outside noise (NIL) and the wapo article is depressing. If you are a true fanatic "fan" think about it and what you can do if anything. Guys are going to move of nothing changes . It's the reality. It's just depressing as to what the implications will be. We just don't know who, when or where yet. |
