The Ivy League officially announced the match-ups for the ILT this morning (not that we were unsure), so now seems as good a time as any to start the thread. My optimistic side says that it's good that Yale just got embarrassed on the boards, because that was also a big part of the loss in Ithaca, and I'm sure the Bulldogs will focus on rebounding in practice this week. |

Amusing point of trivia: every time Yale has been the 2 seed in the ILT, they've won it. |

yes. i hope JJ has these boys on a steady diet of "Bull in the ring" for long intervals + squats/power cleans with a trash can by the rack the drivers of the brown loss were inexcusable and concerning. get tough or its over. |

games appear to be sold out. its the best place to do the tournament given the alumni base. we can quibble with columbia vs fordham (neutral) but the games on the UWS always had good turnout bc of this fact. |

I've been thinking about what a Yale win this weekend would look like. I think it'll come down to turnovers and rebounding. If Yale doesn't turn the ball over too much and wins the boards, I like their chances. (They've done pretty well recently to keep good shooters from getting clean looks, but obviously that'll be important too.) |

i think that's the right formula for this team. sometimes it's easier to figure out what doesnt work. i think playing more like st marys did last night against the zags and leveraging strengths and less like we did against brown, outscoring them until we didnt. of course that game last night was physical and also depends on what the refs allow. if we show toughness and grit on the boards and protecting the ball--i can live if we get out-finessed or shot out of the gym assuming we have a hand in the face. its like the last shot from brown was what it was, but the other piece was so painful to watch even when we were up. |

The reason this ILT is impt is NIL. Might be the last chance we see an underclassman or two in our colors. Where there is smoke there cld be fire I am sad to say. Good news is aletan who will be terrific is likely off the radar for now. But nothing is certain |

I how does my money on brown in Rd 1 look? I regret it and am scared of it tho I love the spread too much I generally love the bullish Princeton sentiment but i can be accused of being a contrarian for the sake of it so there's that. I watched jones interview. He was my coach so I love the guy. But I think our lack of grit in too many contests is papered over by his positivity this year. There is something just off. But alas it will be decided on the floor. I hope wolf is unmasked. The underreporting of his nose and knowlings groin status is I guess par for the course. |

"brown can win this thing" $ $ bills y'all...I don't know if anyone can beat these guys now even if we were to grow a set and beat Cornell? I can't tell if they even played that great. But had defenders on skates pre junk d |

We choked extremely hard. Yet another #1 seed goes down in the conference tourney. Bring on the mockery. I don't think Brown can do it again tomorrow, but whoever wins tomorrow deserves the NCAA trip. Hottest team > best team in March. Look at FDU or St. Peter's after all. |

Brown was underrated by Vegas 2 weeks in a row. Neither Yale nor Princeton could guard them but Henderson was smart enough to junk it up and kudos to that kid Davis. What a half! Given Yale played like a bunch of fairies and that probably doesn't change with this team at 2pm...I like the moneyline still pre tourney |

Pierce had more mental mistakes tonight than he did all season. Lee had an illness and played like it. I can't believe they still had a chance to win it at the end: down 3 with 44s left. But Jack Scott fouling Lilly of all people instantly ended all hope of an all-time amazing comeback. I think we're good enough for the NIT, but what an anti-climactic ending. Could've been another special run - I hope Brown/Yale/Cornell win a NCAA game or two. |

Princeton is so good and showed it's mettle in 2h. But brown has consistently showed for a month they are hard to guard 1-5. And they rebound well. So sometimes you have to stop them 2x a possession. So they pressure you to outscore them. And that can be hard. The fact that mitch had the 1-3-1 and press in his bag tells you he knew. More than Yale can say. |

Basketball is an interesting sport to observe when you pretend the jerseys are reversed. I saw one team on skates for 2/3s of game and they did thst to Yale for 1/3 of game but at Yale brown has lots of talent and my q in early Jan was the right one. How the hell are they not winning more? Now does Yale learn it's lesson and play w grit? Or is the early pattern that re-emerged last week the true identity? |

I said before the season that Brown was my predicted #2 in the league and the best chance to beat Yale in the ILT. I was shocked to see them play so poorly till 6 weeks ago when they flipped a switch. To be fair, Princeton looked relatively awful last season after coughing up a 17pt lead to Yale and losing to Dartmouth. And then suddenly, they flipped a switch too. Came back down 17 at Penn, won the ILT, and went to the Sweet 16. My only consolation is that Pierce and Lee are only sophs, Davis is a frosh, and I never thought they'd be anywhere near this good this season. I figure we got a 2-year window for another March Moment. |

My kids and their cousins think I am a raging lunatic Abt a league few know exist down here. But sec player/recruits don't understand the importance of ivy league athletics to the older generation. Haha. Btw if brown keeps their kids (whether they win or not tmrw) and we keep wolf (questionable at this point) not a layup for Princeton next year even if they are unscathed by attrition as talented as they will be. Alocco is a massive loss. And yes we have a few. Brown will be loaded. Aletan/ wolf and browns Frontline are power personified. Power ball is hard to defend in march in a back to back |

ILT 2022: Princeton deserved it. Yale won it. ILT 2023: Yale deserved it. Princeton won it. ILT 2024: Princeton deserved it. Yale wins it again? I can't complain since we got a Sweet 16 out of our "lucky" ticket. But I hope whoever wins tomorrow wins at least one NCAA game. |

Brown has a great chance tmrw. They played ok and beat Princeton. They played ok and beat Yale at home. Nothing fancy if the glasses are not tinted. Their kids get to their spots fairly easily against the two best defensive teams in the league. And they cracked both on the rebounding side. Esp yale The cousins are confident. And they shld be |

I'm out to dinner on Arthur Avenue, so I'll keep this short: Yale out-toughed Cornell, and that was enough. So, so glad to see the team respond with some grit. On to the Bears. |

If Brown wins tomorrow, they'd likely be in the play-in game as a 16. Then face Purdue, UConn or Houston if they win that. Yikes. Yale would be a 13. Whoever wins has earned it, but I'm rooting for Yale. I know some folks are split on this, but I always want the Ivy rep to do well in the tourney - it helps everyone to see the league looking good. And makes everyone look bad if they get thumped. |

I thought the lack of grit was really the Yale crowd today. wine and cheese it seemed Both brown and Cornell fanbases came to play today. Tmrw-will take more GRIT. Will we have it? Or Is the sphincter tighter bc brown has nothing to lose and a blindingly good future next year as well. We shall see I suppose |

I cheered for Princeton last year the whole way. I would hope by my posts wanting a team to win vs seeing the game I love objectively is an obvious lean Having children far more talented than me and coaching taught me that the hard way. Fandom is for lunatics. But it can be fun short term if not objective |

Yale was great getting fifty-fifty balls against Cornell, and there were a lot of them, especially in the second half. As usual, a good offensive game for the two shooting guards indicated a strong overall performance. Impressive win. |

The last thing I will say ( I promise) bf the agony of tmrw. The reason the ILT was a good idea... Kids in one of the top basketball regions in America are talking Abt guys like wolf, lilly, lee, pierce, etc and are watching the games They aren't potential recruits necessarily. The ones texting me are mostly not candidates for this league for different reasons. But they are impressed and follow these kids now bc of espn+, x/Twitter, etc That wasn't true when I was a high school player. It's another platform. Now should it be modified, improved some way or will NIL transfers chop it's value off- I don't know. But that's the reality today. |

I'm all for the ILT - it's fantastic fun and good training for the NCAAs (tense elimination games). I just think it needs to give homecourt to the higher seeds - just like the Patriot and America East tourneys. Not sure why the Ivy insists on this ridiculous rotation system. And yes, I realize it helped Princeton last year (while hurting this year and 2022). From the beginning, I think everyone thought it was silly to rotate sites. |

I just lied and am going to repost. The James Jones response to an excellent question in yesterday's press conference on NIL is depressing. So the reason the league has more top shelf talent is bc of what I wrote above+ far reaching financial aid which has expanded the opps for recruiting. But this is the high water moment. It's such a damn shame. I don't know if it comes tmrw next week or next year but it's here. Sad Whether that's brown representing the league or Yale or Princeton or whomever. You won't get kids like this and/or they won't stay 4 years. |

If Brown wins tomorrow, they'd likely be in the play-in game as a 16. That doesn't seem particularly likely. Wagner, Stetson, Montana State and whoever the SWAC champ will be (Grambling St./Texas Southern) all have worse KenPom rankings than Brown currently does right now, and there might possibly be others. |

In response to the idea I've seen around that Princeton was by far the best team in the Ivy, all that I can say is that Bart Torvik shows Yale to have been far and away the best team in conference play. Princeton was more or less equal to Cornell and was nowhere near Yale. I'm sure this may come as a shock, since Princeton has Basically Steph Curry as a PG and Basically John Wooden as their coach, but the numbers do not lie. |
