great second half after abominable first half—we win going away 85-72. DLR scored all 27 of his points in the second half. No Blair—out for “personal reasons”, but Bedri stepped up—17 rebounds and 12 points.

PS, lots of turnovers in first half led to 9 point deficit at the half. Ritter is going to be an all-Ivy player in the next two years. Best big man we’ve had in years.

The game didn't match the box score. The first half highlighted much of the concern I have about the team - too many turnovers and poor defending at the arc. Also no points from RDLR. Columbia was down by 13 at one point. Bedri and Noland kept us in the game. The second half was a revelation with RDLR coming alive and Brown making some key baskets down the stretch. Ritter played capably in place of Thompson and Robledo, but Thompson is able to generate space on the court in ways Ritter can't. Huge game by Bedri. |

Why no Thompson and Robledo? We will need them, but I think that Ritter has a huge upside.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's after exams. Could grades have come out, and it's academic? Bedri is tracking the usual pattern of a junior center who is finally coming into his own. We played sluggishly the first half, but crisply the second. The real indicator is Monday, when we play Rutgers, whom Princeton beat by one pt, and we are supposed to lose by 11. |

I was probably wrong. In his post-game interview, Engles references "injury." Not clear whether that refers to Robledo and Thompson, or just Robledo. |

And the first half was truly a train wreck—DLR could not hit water in the ocean and was riding a 1 for 14 streak on three pointers, the turnovers were fast and furious, and Brown was playing recklessly. Noland and Bedri kept us in the game. As far as Fairfield—7 transfers played from them.

I actually thought that Engles did a nice job of game management—he was down three front line players in Thompson, Robledo and Cooper, and the rust was apparent in the first half; but he made some half time adjustments and was never lost his cool during the trying first half. PS, where is Cooper? and do we know more about the personal reasons why Thompson was MIA?
