For what it's worth, here are the numbers, as reported by Real Time RPI and Jeff Sagarin, for tonight's game at Stabler. Of course, they're predicated on a healthy James Anderson and David Buchberger returning to the starting lineup. Both players, you will recall, sat out the debacle that was the Stony Brook 71-50 slaying on Friday. Hopefully, it was just a matter of chemistry - or lack thereof - with 40% of our starting lineup combining for 18.2 ppg on .510 shooting riding the bench. Whatever you call it, it wasn't pretty as the Mountain Hawks had that "deer caught in the headlights" look most of the night and were completely out of sync in the second half of the SB Game.

RT RPI / SOS

LU 186 / 278
AU 86 / 146

Sagarin / SOS / Rating

LU 205 / 316 / 70.32
AU 155 / 237 / 73.64

Based on the Sagarin formula, giving four points the home team, LU would be favored tonight by 1/2 point. Hard to believe. Who knows (maybe wishful thinking), maybe the small crowd will throw off the Great Danes who played before 13,000+ in their loss on Saturday to Siena. In fact, the Danes are attracting an average crowd of 5286 on the road this year.

So, what can we expect tonight out of the Mountain Hawks? If Coach Reed is one-half the coach I think he is, we should see determined and disciplined play
on the heel's of Friday's embarrassment. The fans and the university community deserve nothing less. A win? That would be nice but to pull it off against a team that has seen markedly better talent on the hardwood this year, we had better take care of business beneath the boards (AU comes into the game with a +7.5 rebounding margin) and force the Danes out of their comfort zone and into 3 point land where they hit on only .279 percent of their shots (.24 in their last outings). Then and only then do we stand a chance.

Let's hope the guys come out hungry and focused tonight with something to prove. Thirteen days (this is a pre-exam break game with Monmouth next up on 12/21) is a long time to dwell on a less than a full-out effort.
